Saturday 4th. Last night was the start of the Rabat festival and it kicks off with the street party, which is a nice start to a manic and very busy weekend. We always rock up at Gatinas, who is Ian’s mum and sample the masses of food she has prepared during the day and obviously it would be rude not to also sample Joe’s homemade “very strong” wine, it doesn’t help that he serves it in half pint glasses, but hey there’s worse things in life lol.
It’s just a far cry from my normal day to day life not the food and drinks part obviously, but having conversations with the likes of Father Luke, who has flown in from Brazil specially to visit his family and be at the festa and seeing policeman stop and have a sandwich a chat and a beer before ambling down the street back on their beat.
The fireworks did Rabat proud although there wasn’t as many as last weeks exhibition at Qrandi, they were just as spectacular if not more.
We make our way up to the square where we finally halt proceedings at about 2am, now there is a sting in the tail, I have drunkenly agreed to be picked up for fishing at Stupid o clock, 5-30 am by my bro Ian.
I have hardly hit the pillow and Ian is outside pipping and I feel like absolute shite, but a brave face and quick squat and we are off to Gnenja.
With the first four nets successfully hauled in and some right nice fish in our cool box, I am now starting to suffer and the mixture of homemade red wine, Cisk XL’s, pastitices and cheese are starting to ferment and badly. The sixth net is picked and we are halfway, as we are heading in to “unload” I do exactly the same thing “unload” and the fish on this reef are now enjoying a ripe old Maltese cocktail of last night, but unperturbed a quick gulp of water and I am feeling human again and ready for the next six nets. We drop our booty and nets of at the boathouse and head out again.
Net seven and we have our first lobster and he is a goody and has dinner stamped all over him, than his younger brother comes up and we are sorted for dinner at Ian’s, pre our jolly at Rabat tonight.
With all our nets pulled and a cooler box full with fish we head back to drop me off at Vince’s to see what Saturday’s racing holds for all of us. I am mightily relieved to be greeted by a text telling me that the Gosden team think that WAADY is once again expected to win at his favourite track Sandown and that GOLDEN HORN is a good thing in the Coral Eclipse. I email out WAADY and advise taking the 9/4 because the way he won last time he does in fact look at good thing, but I can see no gain in advising GOLDEN HORN at 4/9 so decide to leave him. Last I put up ROYAL COMMISSIONER at 8/1 ew and also suggest an ew double on the two.
No hiding place this afternoon and I am dying for a siesta as the locals just keep arriving with the XL’s for me and trust me I am dead on my feet. Gitty is no help as she is gulping a new found friend with vengeance the new Drink in town Cisk Berries.
WAADY starts our day of perfectly with a really nice win making him four out of the last five, but scintillating is what I’ll call GOLDEN HORN’s win as he has achieved what so called wonder 3yo colts in the past have failed at and with the GREY GATSBY behind him the form has to be rock solid. Pity that our 8/1 shot ROYAL COMMISSIONER doesn’t pick his feet up and at least get us a place because it would of been a real nice ew double with WAADY already past the post at 5/2.
A small winning day and the first of the month and I sneak back to the flat to curl up for hopefully a couple of hours before its noticed I have gone AWOL.
We arrive at Ian’s and are greeted with a lovely Lobster and garlic aroma, but firstly I need to jump on his Wi-Fi and email out two selections which I had texted during my nap to my LATE service clients at tonight’s meetings.
Firstly I am told that JOHNNY BE GOODS is an absolute bet to nothing ew at 5/1. Than my really good Mark Johnson contact tells me that MALIMBI has been working really well at home and is expected to trouble the judges.
The charming Grat pops the first of the Brut bubbles and the night is off to a flying start.
JOHNNY BE GOODS does what we expected and finishes placed and is a wash through bet.
I than watch MALIMBI lead from the stalls on my iPad and two furlongs out for all monies he looks beat, but as many Mark Johnson horses do he just keeps finding and finding and ends up winning going away.
With a 5/1 winner in the bag the lobster tastes all the better and the seafood tagletelli that kicked things off was restaurant quality, so in all a fantastic night, a winner, super company and great eats, Mmmmmm not bad by anybody’s standards, I reckon.
Sunday 5th. A nice little winning day for my ANDY BELLs clients thanks to WAADY and a super late surge for the LATE betting clients with a 9/2 place and a 5/1 winner last night.
Today is very very quite with what looks two very mediocre meetings one at Ayr and one at Market Rasin, to me this looks distinctly like a bookies benefit day.
Nothing happening today on the horse front so I am going to chill and throughly enjoy the wonderful show that Rabat is going to serve up to us today.
They certainly don’t let us down as the show they put on is truly amazing, with masses of huge party poppers filling the skies with hundreds and thousands of confetti and finishing off with loads of streamers and fireworks from the rooftops.
It’s now 1pm and the bars are rammed and we are well into the swing of things. We secure our seats and the channel for the British Grand Prix and a pretty waitress to do the running and all is set for the afternoon.
Even the Grand Prix doesn’t let us down as for once it’s quite exciting as right from the start we have more overtaking before the first bend than in some whole races this year, as you can gather I do like to sometimes watch it, but I’m not the greatest of fans, but a British win in a British Grand Prix can’t be bad.
A nice late afternoon siesta and we will be ready for the final bash tonight.
Monday 6th. We thought it looked tricky yesterday and that’s the way it proved with only five fancied horses passing the post first between the two meetings.
I’m at Vince’s this morning and talk about the day after the Lord Mayors show, it looks as if the Luftwaffe has done another overnight bombing raid, with rubbish, tins, tables, chairs, bodies and shite everywhere, actually a bit like the Grumbling Dons column yesterday. Hey it must take him a whole Sunday mornings crap time to write it and that’s if the tight git had forked out on a Saturday night curry. I think Geoff Boycott hit more sixes than the grumbling has given winners init, why doesn’t he write about something he truly knows about “moaning or jockeys so called poor rides,” No actually TBH, stick to that normal drivel.
This afternoon young claimer Emma Sayer takes the ride on the well handicapped BLUE JACKET and at 2/1 he is our first bet of the day. Evan Williams is trying to get his owners a win with CANICALLYOUBACK after cruelly beating them with his second string last time, so I also add him to our days email and also suggest an ew double.
Although I’m away I have decided to start looking at this weeks Newmarket card starting with Thursday which is ladies day. I’m pretty confident if the clerk doesn’t over water it’s going to suit top of the ground horses and that is what my workings are going to be based upon.
Not a good day as Young Emma cocked up, but bet these apprentices and takes your chance, so I’m not knocking the young lady and goodness know what when wrong with Evans CANICALLYOUBACK as he ran a very bazaar race indeed.
Tuesday 7th. It’s the hottest day so far 33 degrees and very little breeze. I’m going to hide in air conditioned bars today, no basking in the sun at Gnenja bay I’m afraid, not event the promise of a freshly caught fish dinner can lure me there.
I’m sick of this losing start to the month so on todays email I tell all my clients not to worry as we will have a winning month and it starts here right and now.
It’s 10-30 and for once I have all my selections sorted so on just the one email I suggest four singles and an ew trixie, starting at Pontefract and the 33/1 shot NAKUTI who I have been told is going to be backed and is certainly no 33/1 shot, although he is not part of my trixie just a single only, than my three singles and the ew trixie, my first is also at Pontefract DEAUVILLE PRINCE ew at 9/2 and finally two tonight at Uttoxeter RAVENS NEST ew 14/1 and the shortest price of the day and lastly WELCOMETOTHEJUNGLE at 5/2.
My father and I back all my selections as I suggested to my ANDY BELL’s clients whilst in the Piazza and than head into Bugibba to find some air conditioned bars with Wi-Fi.
We rock up at Victoria’s bar in the square and have a spot of lunch and four or five beers ok six or seven, by the way one of life’s mysteries at home I would of had a least two to three visits to the john by now, anyway the girls need a sugar fix so we wander up to the poshy ice cream parlour and with their Wi-Fi, yes in an ice cream parlour, gosh us British can learn some things, we watch our first runner on my iPad. The first part my boys have right as he, NAKUTI is backed into 11/1 from our 33/1, but we are not certain of our exact colours and are watching the horse on the rail which leads and badly fades, all of a sudden my Father says why has NAKUTI got no prices beside his name on Betdaq as that is where he has backed him at 36/1, all of a sudden I realise we have watched the wrong donkey in dark colours on my poor picture and have just copped a 33/1 winner, a belated oi oi, oi oi is the cry accompanied by a quick jig around the shocked full ice cream shop, Gitty giggles and cooly says probably another mozzy bite to some rather bemused customers lol lol, who cares it’s not every day you back a 33/1 shot for decent money.
Never happy us punters now I’m thinking oh f##k why isn’t that in my ew trixie or why didn’t I do an ew lucky 15 you know the score, that thing hindsight and greed always creeps in.
Hey and a Pity some of you cheap Betfan offer hunters that ALWAYS do the circuits, couldn’t stick only four or five of my losing days after the profit I made you last month and decided to leave, once again oi oi to you leavers some of you don’t deserve to win long term and won’t with those sort of tactics.
Anyway although DEAVILLE PRINCE never quite looks like winning he is always running on and gets us a place, so an ok start to our ew trixie, with two to come later.
Gitty and I sneak into The Seashells hotel to have tea with the oldies, where their been staying, wonderful things these save the hero’s wrist bands when they match the all inclusive ones hehehe, before I take them at 6-30 to the airport, at least I have given the the old chap the perfect send off as he is over the moon with his 36/1 winner and a place, which he informs me with a wry smile “has just paid for their holiday” with very possibly more to come, while he is 1000’s of feet high winging his way home.
When you’re on a roll I never know whether it’s a good thing or not when your horse is pulled out, but our third leg is a n/r RAVENS NEST and they tell me he runs next week when the ground isn’t quite so firm.
My father will turn his mobile on to a great big oi oi message as soon as he lands at Midnight as WELCOMETOTHEJUNGLE completes a fantastic winning day for us giving us two winners at 33/1 and 5/2 an ew third at 9/2 and a n/r.
The drinks will flow tonight although I don’t really fancy a real late one, with my will power I shall still probably be speaking to father when he lands though, famous last words hey, let’s see belly boy.
Wednesday 8th. The last thing I wanted was a hang over this morning and yes I did speak to my father last night, but I’m not sure he understood a word apart from oi oi.
My hangover is nothing to what Greedy Joe got as I’m sure the last thing he wanted was a 33/1 winner stuffed into his ribs yesterday and rounded off with a 5/2 winner for good measure, but I have and a bad one and he did that’s life.
Making over 65 points profit yesterday and winning just over 3k certainly warrants a hangover for sure.
I suppose I have all day to sort myself out before I get onto that darsterly smartie pot tonight and head homewards for Thursday’s Newmarket July Festival. All being well I should land at 11-55pm tonight and intend to leave home at 11am Thursday and head into Newmarket’s town as I’m booked into the Heathcourt for both Thursday and Friday nights.
Where did this Mr Smith appear from all of a sudden he was second in the table last month, second in April and has reappeared this month, all I can say is good luck Sir, surely it’s not the well known hand gliding expert Cyril Smith is it lol , good luck though!!
Today we are going to steam in and pile our yesterdays winnings into three horses, the first two are shortish prices at Catterick, but I don’t care as a winner is a winner and it will mount up for our last which is a decent ew price at Kempton, which I’m told will also go very close.
I email out DUTCH MIST in the first which Jamie Spencer has gone up to ride for Kevin Ryan and with only three runners we think that 6/4 is amazing value. Later on at Catterick Sir Mark has sent his HIGH SECRET up to contest the very winnable looking 4-30 and is trading at 15/8, lastly young Louis rides SURETY in the 9-20 at Kempton, who he won on last time and at my 9/1 advised this morning is expected to go very close and should place at least.
Right it’s packing time and as I said two weeks ago, doesn’t time fly, we haven’t much as we leave most of it here so it’s not much of a chore and the 15kgs isn’t a problem.
Wow if Marmite Spencer had of got trapped in on the rail in the three horse race on DUTCH MIST I would of sobbed like a baby, as it was he could of won by three or four lengths, so a super start to the day with a 6/4 winner. There was no such messing by Luke Morris on the Sir Mark trained HIGH SECRET as his mind was made up for him with a kick in the belly two out and we have bagged our second winner of the day at 15/8.
Now the short drive to the Airport, well any drive in Malta is short and I shall hopefully turn my mobile on in good old Blighty to a nice few oi oi’s with our final bet of the day SURETY, a win would be absolutely superb, but I will settle for a 9/1 place.
Thursday 9th. Mmmmm home sweet home, my bed, my TV and controls, but not for long as I arrived home at 3am and I am leaving at 11ish until Saturday night.
Another great days punting for us on my final day on the rock with a 6/4 winner a 15/8 winner and a 9/1 place making us another 16 points profit.
I think that’s job well done as we are 37 points in profit on my ANDY BELLs service already this month and 15 Points in profit on my LATE service.
Oh no I do believe it’s our local Bungay Boys Jolly boys outing today and after my last two weeks of gluttony their the last bunch I want to bump into.
Unfortunately or fortunately which ever way I look at it my old sparring partner Paul cabbage isn’t going to be in attendance, so I may get some rest bite if I’m spotted, not much though.
Anyway my Gosden boys have been on the mobile screaming that SHALAA did a spectacular piece of work earlier in the week and that all present couldn’t believe the time he clocked. We are convinced that Frankie has picked the wrong one of the two Al Shaqab owned colts by opting for the shorter priced Richard Hannon one, anyway we will see as I am advising a big ew bet on SHALAA at 14/1.
AWESOME POWER gave HRH a right good Sandown birthday present by dotting up last time in a super time and he is expected to be there abouts again today.
Finally if BOSSY GUEST brings his A game to Newmarket today and leave his stubborn antics at home his Guineas fourth is good enough to win and 11/4 is a decent price, although I would liked to have backed him ew incase he brings his muleish side with him. Also I advise an ew trixie on the above three.
I meet the Bungay parade or rather I think they hunted me down and I mark their card with the same as the above, although I think there is more chance of a Belly Boys dry day then any of them doing the trixie. I do manage to escape after a couple as the pink bar is full of totty, with this heat on their heads and bubbles rapidity mingling with it, I think a few Bungay boys wedding rings may accidentally drop off into their pockets.
Oi oi what a start to the day as our SHALAA can be called the winner three out and absolutely bolts in, hahaha what does Frankie know, we have just copped a 14/1 winner and are sitting on a big profit for the day already and a chance of a nice, nice?? great more like trixie to look forward to.
Now I DO head back to the pink bar and I get a hero’s welcome with a chorus of Oi oi’s and a bottle of pink is already being uncorked, with all by bets placed a cracking profit already secured what the hell, my trousers are already to tight and my liver is cooked after the last two weeks so what’s another day.
HRH obviously didn’t give AWESOME POWER enough polo’s after his last performance he put in for her birthday, because today he wasn’t the same horse and was most disappointing. Luckily the boys are so well in front it doesn’t stop the flow of Pink bubbles. I must say I’m rather shocked as I get very little change out of £250 for three bottles, I must be spending too much time at the good old Northern tracks.
Hello Nancy, in Yellow, as you were officially the first to topple over and show us that nickers are not part of your wardrobe, hope you haven’t lost the Betfan link I gave you and read this Saturday.
BOSSY GUEST did in fact stay at home and sent his twin brother the mule as Ryan is scrubbing along after 5 yards and he doesn’t consent to race until the last furlong and than runs on into a place.
For the fourth time of telling them that I’m a million to one to get on their coach I think it finally sinks in and I leave before the last and head back to the Heathcourt and NO I haven’t told them where I’m staying either.
Friday 10th. Another really good winning day yesterday making another 25ish points profit, thanks to SHALAA at 14/1.
14/1 and a 33/1 winners in the same week that doesn’t happen very often, unless your the dreaming Don, or on Tipster Planet lol lol, sorry.
Anyway another day another dollar and we are going to get our money back on LUCIDIA after Kevin Manning’s less than perfect ride on her at Royal Ascot last time when we backed her, when she should of won.
I am also on the side of ILLUMINATE at 7/4 as his Ascot time over 6f compared to EASTON ANGEL over 5f is far superior.
Pete Manchester is travelling down to meet me and stay at the Heathcourt the night, so another kidney killer I suspect.
That’s enough this week, a good diary I hope as I really enjoyed writing it and lol (laughed out loud) a lot and it wasn’t a chore this week either. I had a fantastic holiday, had loads of fun, food, drink with very good friends and chill time to write this as it was too hot to sleep and three hours on the Smartie pot, so I hope you enjoyed my experiences and more so my winners.
I told all you wanna be winners this is my time of the year 130 points last month over 50 this month already and climbing and well over 1000 points now in only two years.
Honestly it’s nice to have you on board, but if you find somebody else’s style of betting suits you better go fill your boots, but PLEASE MAKE sure you spend your winnings as I do, I have just booked another holiday in August out of this weeks winnings, Shhhh as I haven’t told Gitty yet as she has got a months workout in the Gym booked as she got fatter by the day, listen to me Mr Health freak.
You haven’t got to be a huge gambler at just £20 a point you’re already a “k” in front if you’re with me this month and that’s a decent holiday in anyone’s books.
Be good and come bookie bashing with Belly Boy lol lol.
Back next Saturday.
