Andy Bell’s Racing Diary – (Sat 11th – Fri 17th July 2015)

July 18, 2015 By admin Leave a Comment

Saturday 11th. We had a nice winner yesterday thanks to Hughsy’s great race riding on ILLUMINATE when he kicked on at the furlong post and just held on making Pete and myself just under a “k” which we reinvested into LUCIDIA and once again she was given a shocking ride. Thankfully PCH was bang on target with AROD at Ascot and we finished with a great winning day.

A quick spruce and change in the Heathcourt and we are out in the town. A pint of Guinness in the Horseshoes, which is just down the road from the hotel and I should of sussed that not much was being sold as the bird behind the ramp said it’s a bit hot for that isn’t it? As it was shite and for me to leave half of it proved the point. We watched ANDY Murray get his arse spanked in three straight sets and than wandered into town. We pop into the yard to see if PCH is in there to buy him a pint for AROD’s win and shoot a few games of pool.

PCH is not back from Ascot and hopefully enjoying his winnings, I kick Pete’s butt and eases a quick nifty out of him and we are on the roll.

Weatherspoon’s is our next port of call and it’s packed as usual. Pete is gagging to eat and once again I am doing everything in my power to divert his mind and when Joanne rocks up at our table it does the job as he is now more interested in her than the food.

We rock up at the Kings Club at around 10ish and Captain Bailey and his crew are in attendance and it’s very obviously it’s not their first drinks. We have a couple of very nice bottles of wine and Pete takes a closer look at the bottle when he dozes off and his head drops and hits the top of it lol lol. That’s his queue to slope off and I’m not sure what time I followed suit.

Saturday morning and I’m wondering whether the bottle had hit Pete on the bridge of his nose and blacked his eyes, unfortunately at breakfast I see no lasting damage, dam that would of been funny.

Can you believe it at breakfast we actually book our house for next years Cheltenham, I have never been so organized in my life.
July Cup today and the sun is shining and I suspect a full house. I think the Favourite has a great chance, but I’m not convinced with Paul Hannigan this year so in such a difficult looking renewal I think it’s best to swerve it.

Pete is staying at mine tonight so he is off the ale, but with a driver that doesn’t mean I have to. I find out that my daughters are heading over, so I decide we can all have a bbq. My father will be at the races so I can invite him and I expect the drums will be banging and we will get a few of the usual suspects in attendance.

For what is such a very busy Saturday I don’t get a great deal with any real strength through. So just the two for me THINK AHEAD 2/1 at Ascot for the boys in blue and CITY CHIC ew at 12/1 ridden by Hughsy here.

We pitch up with the normal crew of owners and trainers in the bar and things are going quite nicely until “John” rocks up with three bottles of pink bubbles, I don’t care who you are with that stuff and the sun it sends the best of us loco and especially me.

CITY CHIC never really gets a blow in at the very impressive and well named BALLYDOYLE, but is one to watch for the future as he has been galloping really well at home.

Johns brother takes the short walk to the bar next and presents us with another three bottles of pink, I don’t think it will worry them a great deal as between them they own most of Southend. Hannigan gets the Favourite up to win the July Cup in the last strides, after what I said earlier I’ve got to be fair it was a really good ride.

My walk of death now and trust me any house bubbles returning wouldn’t be looked upon lightly, so once again the X’s are through the roof with the hotels etc, etc this weekend, but as long as Greedy Joe’s paying, which he is this month again, it lessens the blow slightly.

Pete and I arrive home to a nice crew and I am soon over the bbq and the effects of the bubbles are very apparent for all to see.
The night goes on far to long and this finishes another three crazy days in my hectic and unpredictable life.

Sunday12th. Morning, is it?? Today’s cancelled and thankfully no bet.

Monday 13th. After the day off yesterday, we seem to be building up into a busy one. Early doors I get a good mark for the 8/1 shot OUTLAW TOM who is expected to place at least. Then I email out a maximum bet from one of my best contacts KEEP IN LINE and advise taking the 7/4 and placing the two in a small ew double.

It’s a catching up exercise today and paying some very good contacts who have waited while I have been gallivanting.

The LATE service has been quiet for a while after making over 120 points in May so when SLIPPER SATIN comes through as a maximum ew bet at 5/1 I have no hesitation in immediately emailing him out.

How many times do good ew bets finish fourth, I wish I knew the true stat but it seems more often than not, well for me at the moment and OUTLAW TOM is another to add to the total.

SLIPPER SATIN soon cheers me and hopefully my LATE service clients as well as he is backed from our 5/1 into favoritism and wins very nicely giving the LATE service clients a well deserved winner.

Not wishing to forget my main service KEEP IN LINE grabs the gap up the rail and wins going away at a super sp of 9/4, best odds guaranteed comes up trumps again.

Tuesday 14th. A very nice winning day for both of my services yesterday and hopefully we can kick on today as I’m going to have plenty of pals come 1pm but I’m not sure how many at 5pm because I’m going to have a day out in town today with the Guys, the first in nearly three weeks, haven’t I been good, ok I have been on holiday for two weeks so not quite so impressive.

I have three bets today and one lay.

In the first at Bath we have a win bet and also a lay, so that can either make or break my day. We have backed the very shrewd Silvester Kirks LEAD A MERRY DANCE ew at 5/1 and I have laid the morning favourite at 5/2.

We rock up at Weatherspoon’s and we immediately have a nice school, Paul Cabbage, Tony the Machine and Ruby Geoff. Ruby Geoff is relatively new to this game but is enjoying it immensely. He is placing bets for me personally on an odds2 basis and we have been having a fantastic run and he is creaming it in at the moment.

LEAD A MERRY DANCE just misses out on a place AGAIN at a very well backed 7/4 and finishes third, paying two places, but we have won a little as we laid the early morning favourite at 11/4.

After yesterdays really nice winner on the LATE service with a 5/1 winner I’m keen to kick on so when I get EXCLUSIVE CONTACT through mid afternoon at Thirsk tonight I email him out and suggest taking the 7/2. I have about six people round me gagging for a bet but all I have is the one left which runs tonight, so I pass on the information as I shall be long gone by then, hopefully anyway.

Gitty picks us up after her Gym workout, I still haven’t told her about our next holiday being already booked as she is working so hard pumping iron or whatever one does in those sort of places.

EXCLUSIVE CONTACT finishes our night and also day off very nicely as he wins easily and that’s the LATE service in profit for the month.

Wednesday 15th. 5am and I’m heading into Newmarket as I want to watch one colt gallop in particular. It’s a lovely morning and the fresh air is just what I need after yesterday’s excursions. We watch our charge do a super time on the clock and all going well in his next two gallops he is going to be a maximum bet and one of my odds2’s next week. As usual we retire to the White Lion for some breakfast and I am told that the Chris Wall trained horse COOLCALMCOLLECTED is very well fancied tonight at Sandown.
Apparently and unusually for George Baker the plan is to jump out and try to make all, we will see later.

Mr Haggis has quickly got MYTHICAL MOMENT out after his facile win at Carlise last week under a 6lb penalty, I think 16lb would be closer to stopping him the way he won so I also email him out and suggest snapping up the shade of odds on. Also I suggest a nice win double on the pair.

Jack the cap calls me with SEVE and he is very bullish, so with plenty of points laid out on ANDY BELL’s service I suggest that the LATE service gobble up all the 13/8.

GOOD NEWS for all you special likers, after the last four or five absolutely dismal efforts by our tipsters, where all of you did your bollocks, Simon Holden and yours truly have been called up to do battle at Glorious Goodwood. I love the meeting and shall be down there for at least three of the days and quite possibly four, depending on Newmarket’s cards. Come join us and hopefully we can turn in at least half a decent effort for your hard earned monies.

I love it when a plan comes together as George Baker kicks COOLCALMCOLLECTED in the belly from the stalls and gets his fractions perfect and never sees another horse and wins by nearly two lengths and gives us the perfect start and also a great chance of a good double.

During the course of the day our 4/5 has gone and MYTHICAL MOMENT is trading at 4/7, so you can imagine my concerns as he drifts like a barge pre race back out to 11/10. He goes of a evens and apart from getting slightly out paced half way Pat always looks in controls and he wins going away at the post.

Oi oi two nice winners at 2/1 and evens and on the face of it, it doesn’t sound marvellous, but when you start calculating your winnings it soon adds up and we have made over 35 times our monies or points profit on the day.

Oh and not forgetting my LATE service clients who also copped a very nice 13/8 winner shooting them up the Betfan tree as well and making it three winning days on the trot.

Thursday 16th. I’m on the 10am rattler this morning and heading to Leicester and i am also going to meet Steve and have a cuppa with him and see what our plans are for the rest of the flat season and the on coming jumps season.

I am very surprised that England are not favourite’s to win the test match which starts today after their last win and even more so their not favourite’s to win the series which I find very bazaar indeed, maybe that’s why I’m a horse tipster and not a sports one.

Tom Tate’s HILLSIDE DREAM has no apparent past form, but I am told he is well fancied to go well today and I suspect he won’t be the first or the last to have three quieter runs and than come out and win on handicap debut, so I email out an ew bet at 5/1 and also a shortie for tonight HUMAN NATURE at Sandown.

Leicester is quite sparse today, but I do suppose it’s an ordinary midweek meeting. Steve is on top form and tells me he has some super new contacts that we can work with in the fast approaching jumps season.

HILLSIDE DREAM is smashed up in the betting and at one point is vying for favourtism, he goes off at 11/4 and just gets beat but secures us a small profit.

Not much else to get excited about during the day apart from the really tasty Whelks. When in Leicester an Indian is a must and we are going to have one before I catch the train home.

We rock up at VISHAL’s on Catherine Street, although I’m on the rattler I take the view that the fermentation process will start after I am off the train, so I order a Madras, Steve is an animal and orders a Vindaloo, I hope the big head suffers later.

Anyway whatever happens later it was well worth it as the food was top notch.
HUMAN NATURE just gets caught bang on the line and gets beaten a neck, so a rare loser for us at the moment, thankfully.

Friday 17th. The new Delhi (belly) was fine last night and I didn’t even put any loo roll in the fridge for this morning. I’m Rocking All Over The World tonight as Status Quo are performing after racing and to be honest I’m quite looking forward to it, not getting there though as it will be manic. I shall be leaving home about 2ish or we should as my father is driving, I would rather sit in the owners and trainers bar than the inevitable traffic jams that will gridlock Newmarket later.

Today I am putting up the Carlise Bell disappointment as the race wasn’t ran to suit him, TRINITY STAR 3/1 at Nottingham this afternoon and also Marmites ride LEXINGTON ABBEY who beat GREEB last time and I see no reason why the form should be reversed.

That’s it for another week, don’t forget if you FINALLY want a winning special join Holden and Myself for Glorious Goodwood and we will show all these past wannabes the way.

Right I’m now leaving, got me leather jacket and Penny’s blonde wig on so I’m all set to “rock” tonight lol lol.

See you soon I hope, my next jaunts out are Leicester on the 22nd, Newmarket 24th and 25th, oh and obviously Newmarket tomorrow if any of you are about.

Back next Saturday.
