Sunday 7th. Another great winning day for us again yesterday and how good was our maximum bet on BURATINO and I think we will struggle to see a better performance by a 2yo all year and we knew didn’t we.
Although the day didn’t start off perfectly as I told you last week I wasn’t racing, so we had pitched up in Weatherspoon’s right in front of the TV. As soon as Channel 4 was due to come on Tony The Machine jumped up and switched the TV over, only to be confronted by a loud bark from the back of the room, “I was watching the weather” and quick as a flash he replied “well put your f*****g nose on the window beside you.”
We got all our beer tokens and more on BURATINO from Greedy Joe across the road and so did most of the pub.
Also my reservations about the staying power of GOLDEN HORN were also put firmly to bed with a scintillating performance and the Eclipse now beckons with the USA later in the year now awaits his brilliance.
The LATE service were a shade unfortunate I thought with their nice little double with EMPEROR SAKHEE who absolutely bolted up in the last at Hexham, only to be let down by the French raider DOLNIYA who looked home and hosed a furlong out and was in front again a yard over the line, a great mugging ride by Pat Dobbs.
So in all another nice winning day again for my ANDY BELL’s clients and a small losing one for the LATE service.
Sunday Morning. The seaside is calling again today as I have been promising for three weeks and as Maltese James and Jackie are staying with us for a week even I can’t wriggle out of it today.
While James is shooting everything that moves at the bottom of our meadow I have some time to go through the form and sort today’s selections.
ETON RAMBLER is the first up and with his good form, a nice draw and a bit of money for him at 3/1 he is my first selection of the day.
I am called and told the Robert Eddery stable really fancies their DONNCHA who is trading at 6/1 and is going to be very well punted after a really nice piece of work during the week. I advise taking both prices especially DONNCHA’s 6/1 because when this crew gets stuck in the prices tumble.
As both selections seem relatively strong I also advise an ew double on the pair.
11am my early selections are all complete so we load up and head to Great Yarmouth, I do have a small plan as I am planning to walk the racing track and see how the remedial work is coming along and if its likely we will get a start this year.
At the bottom of my drive I get another call confirming what I already know that DONNCHA is going to run a huge race, this time I think sod it, I’m going to break my own rules and also put him on the LATE service, I very seldom duplicate my selections, but I make an exception today as I want everybody to benefit from what I know and if you have taken my advice and are in both services you now know that if anything goes on both ANDY BELL and LATE it’s super strong and your initial stake needs adjusting, upwards.
We arrive and it’s like a wind tunnel and when the sun disappears behind a cloud it’s like an October day, fortunately it remembers it’s June and warms up a bit as the day grows older. I loved the photo that I posted on my ANDY BELL’s Facebook although with hind sight I thought Mmmmm how brave or silly is this with two runners on my services later and one duplicated posting the donkeys because if they lose today I have left the door wide open for loads of abuse I can just imagine the shit and wise cracks I will get lol lol.
After feeding the very willing seagulls who have perfected the art of catching chips mid air and also crapping in the wrong places and a whirl on the 2p machines we all head for a roller coaster ride, not me I willingly hold the bags as I am shit scared and then a pint on the way home.
Oi Oi TWO bets TWO winners greets me as I fire up the laptop and an ew double 6/1 and 5/2 and a 6/1 winner on the LATE service.
In all a super, super day all round I can sleep well tonight, having escaped putting the same 6/1 horse on two services and a cheeky snap of the donkeys.
Monday 8th. Oi Oi can you believe it after all I said last week about us never being top of the Betfan tree again with all these new super services starting and what happens, yes, we wake this morning top. I just don’t understand what goes wrong after these fantastic three month stats of 4, 5 and 600 points profit and how this always seems to happen, Mmmmmm maybe pressure, maybe they freeze, i think if you can ride a bike, surely you never forget, well not that quickly???
It turned out to be a mistake to take on the 1/3 favourite with our ew bet POSTULANT at 4/1, luckily we did get a place which returned a very small loss. We were not so lucky in the last as EXOPLANET BLUE was never at the races and we suffered a rare losing day. Maybe our lofty position at the top of the table has had a short life and I will have to eat humble pie tomorrow.
Tuesday 9th. Just hanging in there at the top with the “old” school giving chase, with Revolution Betting second, wheres Emma been lately, thought she had ran off with the Grumbling Don as neither have been seen lately and then Unity Racing, come on you “old school services” lets show these new boys we are here to stay.
The 11/2 looks to big on SMART SALUTE and he is my first bet, quickly followed by the Shamus Durak trained PAOLOZZI who is trading at 13/8 and has been crying out for a quick track and quick ground and that’s what he has today so no excuses. Finally the Doctor is trying 2m 4f with his today who didn’t get it last time so there’s no reason why he should today so I decide to take him on with the second and third favorites.
Not much happening today, I really wanted to start working on Ascot, but the fear of rain and a lot of wasted time and energy is that appealing.
SMART SALUTE misses the break and finishes second, well we knew it was an apprentice race, pays your money and takes your chance, a small ew profit at 11/2.
PAOLOZZI does the business for us with an easy win just as we expected and the sp made our 13/8 look a steel. I’m kicking myself as I knew the Doctors wouldn’t stay and tried to be clever and work around it and we got a shock 33/1 winner and a 25/1 third, should of just laid the doctors favourite.
Nothing done either way I don’t think maybe a cup of tea either way.
Wednesday 10th. OMG a losing day although it was only half a point or so, we can stick that when we are over 70 up so far this month.
I have hardly finished the first of the three S’s when I am called and told in no uncertain terms to take the 11/4 with bet365 on the Luca Cumani trained BERMONDSEY. I quickly email this last time out Wood Ditton 5th at 7-10am.
As I have no racing today and two full weeks ahead of me with Ascot and Newmarket I have agreed to be Florence Nightingale for the day and take a very frail and poorly Mr Jolly and his wife to Southwold, which is a seaside town on the east coast, bit of a posh one actually, I know, tell me about it, seaside twice in a week I must be going potty or soft. Anyway just before I leave Ryan Moore is riding EXPRESS HIMSELF who is a best priced 15/8 and his Newmarket form last time is by far the best on show, so he completes my days bets for my ANDY BELL’s clients.
I cant believe how cold it is here at Southwold, again it could be October the wind is howling and the sea is raging, but I must say we still have the stalwarts in their shorts and tee shirts determined not to let the great British weather deter them. although we don’t have a paddle we do enjoy a walk along the front, well Mr Jolly a whizz on his speedy wheel chair. While they eat at least I do get time to update my LATE service with a couple of lively outsiders and a quick pint, although I’m in the home of Adams bitter I don’t partake as I have come to like my belly.
Southwold is far to posh for a Greedy 1’s so in the poshy Kings head, I think, I watch Bermondsey on my iPad bolt in and confirm the promise he showed in the Wood Ditton, with a smile and an internal oi oi, a nice win at a very well backed 5/4, where did the monies come from for MIRACLE NINETYNINE as they smashed him into 5/4 joint fav.
If you ever had a smidgen of doubt about who’s the worlds best jockey riding at the moment just watch a re-run of EXPRESS HIMSELF’s race and what Ryan Moore had to do to win after missing the break by six lengths, wow and its not my pocket talking a masterclass ride.
Anyway an outward oi oi two out of two again today 11/4 and 15/8 and we must of made nearly another 20 points profit which will put us somewhere near the century mark in profit already for this month.
Thursday 11th.Yes we wake this morning mid nineties profit and a great few days racing ahead of us. I have changed my plans from my Northern jolly jaunt, up yours Holden and I am heading Southwards for Sandown on Friday and Saturday oppose to York and Doncaster.
It seems the lull before the storm as the only thing I have to put out today is an ex pointer from Steve, GARDENERS HILL who was traveling like the most likely winner last time in a point to point when falling four out. He is trading at 12/1 so I put out and have a small ew bet on him.
I don’t like to openly admit this but our village is having an open garden weekend and I am confined to ranks today cutting the grass and weeding gardens, I’m sure you’re not going to tell anybody, maybe the Grumbling Don will pop down and help me as he doesn’t seem to be doing much at the moment.
I hate to admit it but I don’t even have time to watch the racing today as I’m going to have loads of, what shall I call them hey, nice, different, nosey, lets stick to bored people wandering around my gardens at the weekend, at least I shall be at Sandown on Saturday, although I have consented to do a bbq on Sunday and give the proceeds to the local charity, see I am nice really.
With such an apt name GARDENERS HILL should of bolted in today, but when leading he jumped the fourth sideways and I am told it was reported that he pulled a muscle in his back and wandered in very slowly, actually rather like me after my days chores
Friday 12th. I’m heading M25 wards today and Sandown it’s not something to be excited about, especially on a Friday, where do all these vehicles appear from on Fridays??
It’s warming up to be a very busy day with bets at York and Goodwood and a maximum at Newton Abbot if the rain comes.
Well as I’m leaving early you will have to be in it to win it as they say, so it’s caw from him and caw from me.
See you all soon I hope keep safe until next week here’s to the girl on the hill, if she doesn’t her sister will, here’s to her sister.
Back next Saturday.
