You often hear punters bemoaning their luck when they have had a yankie, Lucky 15, double or treble up but one has let them down for the maximum pay day. Well after hearing the tale I’m about to tell you they should be thankful for small mercies.
Last week in Germany 58 year old Franz Engelen was watching TV while checking off his lottery. He had forecast all six numbers correctly and shouted to his wife they had won the jackpot of over 900,000 Euros.
They telephoned all their family and friends and were planning for a new house, car and holiday as you would.
The next morning while having a coffee he just happened to double check the numbers to find they were totally different to his ticket. He phoned the television station to be told the presenter had read out the results from the previous week by mistake and that he had won absolutely nothing.
Now that’s what I call a choker so all you nearly punters zip it from now on!
Fold4Gold is still in decent form with its low risk high reward policy. Last week finding a 25/1 winner in Master Of The Hall in a 5 runner race.
Many people ask me what’s my secret of finding these very big priced winners and I have considered running a seminar at Brightons Grand Hotel in the executive suite but you would be looking at about £500 a seat.
In the mean time just join the services I’m involved in and I will continue to find you juicy winners.
I see Wayne Rooney gained his 100th England cap and yet again people are calling him a great player. I’m sorry, for me, he is a good player but no better than that.
I won’t go through a whole list but just a few Man Utd players who were truly greats are Sir Bobby Charlton, George Best and Dennis Law and Rooney is not in their league.
We have the big Newbury jumps meeting starting later this week but today’s jumping cards offer pretty poor stuff so for Howies Hottie I’m playing in the 3.10 Lingfield.
It’s a 6 furlong handicap and the one that I like is Temple Road who has my favourite jockey in the plate Graham Lee.
The Street Cry gelding has had a couple of races to get him fit and has a hood and tongue tie fitted. He is a course and distance winner and if Graham can find the gaps on this hold up performer he is handicapped to be right in the mix.

ARTIFICIAL SURFACES
Dont trainer Julia Fielden – A cast off from the Cumani yard the horse has taken time to settle in however I did see glimmers of ability last time and improvement is on the way.
Topaling trainer M.Tompkins – A horse in form who is improving with every step up in trip and is ahead of the handicapper.
Watt Broderick trainer I.Williams – 2nd to Topaling at Wolverhampton and would have been an easy winner without that rival in the field.
Ask Dad trainer D.English – Restless in the stalls and had to be hard ridden to get a position. The gelding is better than the bare result and is on a good mark.
Outer Space trainer J.Osborne – Came with a strong late run at Kempton but had to come very wide to deliver his challenge.
Act Your Shoe Size trainer K.Dalgleish – 3rd behind Lorraine at Wolverhampton he has dropped to a lenient mark and should soon be winning. Also Jamie Osbornes Lorraine is also worth keeping an eye on.
JUMPERS
The Young Master trainer N.Mullholland – After the win of Balbriggan in the big handicap chase in Ireland on Sunday this horse must be on your radar as he beat the Irish grey out of sight a couple of runs ago. He was disqualified after winning the Badger Ales chase at Wincanton on technical grounds and compensation awaits.
The Giant Bolster trainer D.Bridgwater – Ran well for a long way at Haydock on ground he hated and will soon show his true ability.
Back next Wednesday have a good week and be lucky.
