Friday’s come round so quickly, usual service newsletter completed with free tip Viking Jack who I thought had a very good draw to repeat his first round win. I then sent out a very late selection to subscribers, I had a strong word for Aero Gerry in the maiden at Romford – get the Xmas money was the call. It’s been good info before, so I lumped on and told them to do the same. I had no runners at the Essex track and much less any gumption to go out on a very cold evening.
My hopes were dashed when Viking Jack fell out and you can’t do that in top class greyhound race, he made up a lot of ground but could only manage third. So all our hope rested on Aero Gerry but if wasn’t happy when I saw the dog on parade as I wouldn’t have bet him had I waited to back him in track. My fears were founded when he too missed the break and looked as if he wanted to be seeded rails.
Even Evanta Evita and Cashen Maureen winning there Oaks Semi Finals with me holding ante post vouchers failed to brighten my evening.
Saturday I was in determined mood to get back on track and decided to cut my stakes until I hit top form again. I poured over the Towcester card and spotted a dog that was way overpriced IMO. Martin White’s Killglen Chief who had clocked a fast 28.20 in both his trials over c&d which had him right in the mix. He was available at a huge 6/1 I availed myself of some of that! I then sent him out as my selection to subscribers to do the same. They piled in and within an hour he was only a 4/1 chance. Another cold night and my downright laziness stopped me venturing to the bookies to watch the action from the Northamptonshire track. I thought I would be able to listen to the commentaries on line – I was wrong. I had to wait for twitter to tell me the results and post a few videos. Anyway it was race time and I was in the dark but I had a good feeling about this one and I was right he duly won returned 2/1jf having been heavily backed on track from 7/2. Job done and I was a lot happier when I retired to bed in GMT towers. My grand daughter can’t wait for Belly’s book to come out as she loves a fairy story!
Just waiting for my free signed copy! All joking aside it should be a very good read.
Sunday I swerved the kennels for a week ventured over to watch my sons Essex Cup football match at which I got a soaking but they won 7-1. Home for a hot shower then a conference call with Angus over the Henlow action. I was heading for the Bedfordshire track as I had Laura running in a competition and Sharon trialling after a bad bout of coughing. Carpo was doing the honours over at Sittingbourne where Patch & Fizz were running. Unusually I set my stall out on a graded runner Katie O’Flaherty’s puppy Twist. She caught my eye on Thursday winning after doing everything wrong in her sweepstake heat. The 7/4 on offer from B365 was taken and she was then sent out. A little later Mrs D and I set off to Henlow for a spot of dinner in the restaurant with Andy and Claire. Twist 7/4 was first up and she didn’t disappoint picking up her litter sister close home, to start the night off in fine fashion. Patch was next up in a sprint over at Sittingbourne, he was just touched off in a photo. Laura just couldn’t quite get the better of Loyal Rock in her heat but safely qualified to have another go in next weeks final. Fizz didn’t let the team go home empty handed getting the better of a good field in a photo back over at Sittingbourne. Headed for home in good spirits after a winning tip, nice meal, good company, a winner and two seconds from my own runners.
Monday up early as the Lawrence Jones Memorial meeting at Monmore. Open competition heats were taking place live in the betting shops this afternoon. Sorted out two selections for my subscribers and quickly sent them out. I was very keen on Dean Childs Millwards Whitey 6/4 in the puppy competition first heat and Heather Dimmock’s Likeitalot 9/4 in the second heat. Popped down my local betting shop to watch the action, where the FOBT’s were in full flow. Whitey 4/5 bolted from the traps and won well. Heat two featuring Likeitalot was declared void as the hare stopped after 50 yards the puppies all dived on the hare, Christmas had come early for them! They decided to re-run the heat after the last race and Likeitalot 7/4 failed by the minimum margin to land the subscribers a double whammy! A small profit was made on the day. Looking forward to this Fridays Finals.
Tuesday saw only three opens at Sheffield where nothing was of interest so a no bets email was quickly sent out. A day late I caught up with the weeks videos and some household chores, no butler or maid service here! I then set about scanning tomorrows Belle Vue Oaks/Laurels Sky Tv card for our next winner.
Wednesday as normal with Sky nights you have to beat the sharks to get the best prices.
I had identified my selections last night just waited for all the prices to come out and wham I steamed in! The selections were then sent out to my subscribers. Evanta Jack 7/2 who was crying out for the red jacket in his Laurels runs can take advantage now he has it! I thought there maybe trouble with the inside runners in the Laurel Finals so Mark Wallis Blue Moment was the shout each way at 14/1. Then in the Oaks Final I thought Cashen Maureen looked a solid favourite though she may clash with Evanta Evita on the run to the first bend so again Greenwell Lark was a value alternative each way at 12/1. Bet 365 were offering 1/3 odds on all races at the Manchester track tonight. Tips all sent out and money down I can relax this afternoon until the action starts later. A disappointing night ensued with Evanta Jack having every chance in defeat, Blue Moment & Greenwell Lark were never at the races on the heavy track. Cashen Maureen hosed up in the Oaks Final landing Mark Wallis his first ever win in the competition.
Thursday saw a difficult card at Hove where heats of maiden standard, maiden sprint, bitches & puppy competitions were taking place. Over at Henlow the other venue covered by RPGTV featured three heats of the 550 metre Cesarewitch. After the bookies had priced up the whole cards I thought Kevin Hutton’s Boom Boom Dani 2/1 looked worth of support. I then sent the selection out to subscribers. It was more of a watch card than have a punt one! After a nice spot of tea I settled down to watch the action on channel 212 on sky.
First up was the Cesarewitch heats and Marco running in heat two I was pleased to find out that Savana Nijinsky was a non runner in trap one. I thought Marco was a better betting proposition at evens without Nijinsky inside him than the 6/4 earlier with him in the race!
So it turned out after a moderate break he followed round early leader Blackrose Ice before going past him at the fifth bend to win in the fastest time of the heats. Next up was Boom Boom Dani my tip to subscribers, she blasted from the traps and defeat was out of the question clocking an impressive 29.64. That recovered Sky nights losses and a tad more!
Friday we have Monmore Green’s Lawrence Jones Memorial Finals this afternoon live in your betting shops where I will go for our Free tip as I’m not keen on any of the flying four races at Romford as a betting medium.
Now all the shorties may win the Monmore Finals but I won’t free tip a shortie I would rather take a chance on a bigger price runner. Seamus Cahill Ballygibbon King looked unlucky when getting his back legs taken at the first bend showing the best early pace, just failing to get round. I think he’s worth chancing at a whopping 8/1 each way and he can do sub 28 seconds round Monmore if he gets clear.
