It’s Cheltenham and Trials day which tells us one thing the Festival is looming!
Cheltenham is our World Cup and Olympics but better and this is a significant pointer today for mid march.
The mighty Thistlecrack fresh from his King George Demolition job runs in the Cotswold Chase a Gold Cup Trial.
He was awkward at a couple of the ditches earlier in the season here and Tom Scu will be mindful to get this equine superstar to show these fences some respect. It can only get itself beat today by falling and it will be fascinating to see if Tom Scu powers on from the front as they won’t hang around today.
Another superstar in the making runs in the Cleeve Hurdle Uknowwhatimeanharry and I’m amazed he is odds against in the 4pm. He really is a very progressive horse for Harry Fry and in a non vintage year for stayers he can dominate. The second fave is Ballyoptic and he was giving Uknowwhatimeanharry a race when he tumbled at the last at Ascot. I think he would have got beat had he stood up and I’m convinced on this track Uknowwhatimeanharry will put him in his place and 11/10 looks big to me.
As we head towards the Festival I hope you can join my Racing Club as this is traditionally my most profitable part of the season.
I’ve had to visit the Dr this week with a severe case of seconditus but that will change very soon and I have three big bets for members today so if you are not already involved get involved.
Enjoy Trials Day, record it, the form will work out and we will all have a clearer picture after today.
Back next Saturday.
