It’s here at last the big day the Race that stops a nation, the Grand National and it’s going to be run on a hot and sunny day at Aintree. The ground is drying out so we should get a fast run race on decent ground.
Firstly lets hope the horses come back safe and sound because despite the many modifications made this is still a mighty course and they will be running fast today.
It will be interesting to see how running it later at 5.15 affects the attendance in the venue and the viewing figures at home. The ITV coverage has been superb with Luke Harvey amusing and informative and Chappers hilariously dodging the drunks in the betting jungle.
Anyone who has watched RUK will see Dave Nevison attempting this role. I used the word attempting to be generous to him.
The Simon Holden Racing Club landed a right touch over the big fences on Thursday as Dineur scooted to victory in the Foxhunters at a rather tasty 20/1!!!
Theres plenty more big winners on the way in the coming months so sign on and get involved.
So you cry what’s your National Selection well in recent years the Scottish National has proved to be a very informative trial for the big race and with the drying ground as well I think the one to beat is Vicente. Paul Nicholls has set Vicente some big tasks this year like running him in the Hennessey at Newbury which was beyond him.
This horse needs an extreme trip on decent ground and he gets that today, he also has that little touch of class you need in this race.
Nicholls will have him wound up as this has been the aim all year and Brian “yosser” Hughes who has had a good week can have the biggest day of his career. Take the 25/1 with bet365 1/4 odds 5 places.
It should be a great day enjoy and get with the Racing club we have some major gambles in other races on the card.
Back next week unless I go the wrong way at the Canal Turn
Back next Saturday.
