Another fantastic days racing ahead but first lets pass on our condolences to the family and friends of Stephen Yarborough the stall handler who died at Haydock yesterday.
These brave Men and Women perform a very dangerous role day in day out to ensure we can enjoy our great sport and they put them selves in to situations most of us would run a mile from.
Haydock’s night meeting goes ahead as planned tonight but there will be a very sombre atmosphere.
Newbury and Newmarket stage two excellent Flat cards but lets have a look at one of the great Summer jumps races the Betfred Summer Plate at 3.20 over at Market Rasen.
There will be a huge crowd of jumping fans there today at what is a lovely course to go racing. To get there you go to the middle of nowhere and then keep going.
Poker School is fave for a Trainer I really respect and fear Ian Williams but the horse has run some stinkers and may be too high in the weights, his price looks tight to me at 6/1. Midnight Shot is on a roll but again the handicapper has been brutal and this is tougher than his recent wins much tougher. Nicky Henderson, Paul Nicholls and Jonjo all run horses and they will have their followers but for me the selection has to be top weight Henryville for the potent combo of Harry Fry and Niall Madden.
Fry is a brilliant young Trainer who is already plundering racing’s big prizes and he can plunder another one today with Henryville who was an excellent hurdler but promises to be a better chaser. Madden will hold this one up and that is no bad thing as there is loads of pace on here and I have a feeling this may fall into Henryville’s Lap.
At 14/1 with paddy power he looks a cracking each way bet.
Back next Saturday,
