The Gambling Don

March 8, 2015 By admin Leave a Comment

Well we’ve waited and waited and waited and now it’s here Festival week and the greatest show on turf.

Cheltenham is our World Cup and Olympics all in one and every one has got an opinion. Well after winning last years tipping challenge and making profits every year for the last ten years heres The Don’s rough guide to Festival week!

1 – Buy the Special between myself and Andy Bell it made big big money for those that did in a year when most pros and tipping services lost! It’s not hype it’s a fact!

2 – Stick with facts not hype or drivel talked at Festival Previews where people have there own agenda to push!

3 – If you are going to bet in every race ask yourself if constantly backing faves or “certs” will make you money over four days?

On Gold Cup day only one Favourite was placed and none won. Day 3 was only slightly better. Why do bookies want you to back faves, think about that and you have your answer.

4 – Don’t back Trainers blindly, in the last two years Paul Nicholls has had one winner and that was a hurdler. Nicky Henderson only had one as well last year though I tipped it @25/1. I’m not saying avoid them, their brilliant Trainers but don’t be backing them blindly!

5 – Look closely at horses who have run well here before on quick ground. Despite the pompous Clerk of the horse and his bizarre watering, the ground will be as lively as most horses have run on this year.

6 – Take every offer any Bookmaker will give you. Money back if the horse is second, fallers money back as free bet you name it don’t think wheres the catch? They want your business let them have it and have the odds in your favour.

7 – This is sound gambling advice but particularly this week DO NOT CHASE. If you have a bad first day so what, it’s where you are Friday night that matters. You need to play this one as a long game. There is nothing worse than blowing your bank then watching horses you would have backed win. Make sure you are not in that Camp!

8 – Do not be frightened of backing big prices to win or place they do win and they do place at the Festival and the likes of Pipe, Jonjo, King and Hobbs know how to win at Cheltenham so if they have horses at big prices they must think they have some chance.

9 – Do not back Mccoy blindly, for the last five years he has not ridden well at this Festival and they will not LET him win as some moron told me in the pub in Newmarket on Friday (it wasn’t Andy Bell sadly Newmarket is home to more than one moron). This is the Cheltenham Festival and no place for emotion, owners , jockeys etc will do anything to win and will wish AP well as we all do but will happily beat him.

10 – Finally… ENJOY IT! Racing is the greatest game in the World and this is as good as it gets.

If your not in on the Cheltenham Special get it ASAP and sit back and let myself and Andy Bell find you the winners!

I will be making my way to Cheltenham tonight but before that I will be betting a Jonjo horse up at Market Rasen in the 3.05. Mission Complete ran badly last time but the time before he was second and that’s the best form on offer here and I expect him to be heavily backed today. Back him to win @7/1 with William Hill.

Back next Sunday.
