I love a cold spell when all the jump meetings get abandoned and punters who ignore the All-Weather have to try and work out the form, well you can’t, it’s two different sports and you need to specialise but this gives us a massive advantage as we’re betting against these amateur’s. I watch every All-Weather race and know the form inside out, trainer traits & jockeys to follow, time to make hay! Although I have to say the quality of racing the last week has been really poor.
Still added four interesting new entries to the hotlist this week: BACALL, SAMPLE, FRANCO’S SECRET & STEVE ROGERS.
I was watching the 2000 guineas trail at Meydan & trainer Mick De Kock got 1st & 2nd, a week after saying he wouldn’t have any runners on that new dirt track! The one thing I’ve noticed from there is you definitely need speed from the gate and to be up with the pace as the kickback is severe. I think De Kock noticed this as well and realised he had a great opportunity. I’ve not had a bet there yet but now could be the time as there is such a pace bias.
The Meydan turf course looks fantastic and TRUE STORY put up a scintillating performance on his first run since being gelded and could go onto be a worldwide money spinner.
Must be gutting for marmite man Jamie Spencer that the main reason he said he came back for the ride on Toast of New York in the Dubai World Cup has now been sold and Dettori gets the mount.
