Villa On Track For Wembley Showdown With Fulham

Aston Villa have a one-nil lead over Middlesbrough ahead of the home leg of the Championship playoff semi-final and Fulham await the winners of the tie in the final at Wembley. The match that decides which team earns promotion to the Premier League has been described as the most lucrative in football. The vast gap in income for Premier League and Championship clubs makes the fixture a golden ticket to the Promised Land. The third best team in the league deserves that reward.

Fulham finished third during the regular season and are the best team still in the playoffs. Derby were tough not to crack but Fulham beat them 2-1 over two legs of the semi-final tie. They only missed out on automatic promotion in the last league fixture of the season so FULHAM are the team to back at 8/11 with Betfair to win the Championship playoffs and earn a place in the top tier.

The home side in tonight’s match in Aston Villa are the favourites to progress and on form the market confidence in the Birmingham outfit should be justified. Playoff matches are often tight affairs but Villa were value for a much bigger lead to take into the home leg. They are managed by Steve Bruce who has taken two teams into the Premier League.

It’s worth bearing in mind that there has not been a home win in the last 12 meetings but a draw should suffice for Villa. They have not lost a home league match for six months and Boro have won twice on the road in nine fixtures. It might not be pretty and the match is unlikely to produce a feast of goals but ASTON VILLA are the bet in tonight’s match in 90 minutes at 5/4 with William Hill.

There is a mixture of three jumps meetings and three fixtures on the Flat in the UK and Ireland today, including three this evening. You can bet on horse racing from 2pm to 840pm but its more about quantity than quality. Killarney is the most lucrative fixture and offers up to about one third more in prize money than any one fixture on the mainland but winners are paid in Euro and not pounds. The currency of the cheque is irrelevant in the 6.10 race because AISOLAS is a progressive horse who can win at this level and the 7/4 with Ladbrokes is worth taking.
