Great news that racing will resume tomorrow. It could have been so much worse! The quick action taken by the BHA although it seemed extreme I believe was the right choice and delayed action could have seen racing wiped out for a considerable time. The most worrying thing about it though was hardly reported and that’s the fact that these cases have been found in horses vaccinated against the flu! It just shows how different strains can develop and the risks.
We were supposed to be betting GETAWAY TRUMP at Newbury in a valuable race on Saturday. The information on that horse was incredibly strong and he is entered in 2 races at Cheltenham. He really needs the ground to be bottomless to show his absolute best but we will see nearer the time if he gets his ground… he will be a force!
I was going to give a free bet for tomorrow but the odds are not yet out so here is a bet for Cheltenham instead. In the Foxhunter’s a horse we have backed and won with this season is HAZEL HILL. He’s evergreen at the age of 11 and is currently in great form. He was due a further prep run at Warwick but his trainer has now decided that the meeting at Haydock would be too close to the festival and he will go straight there instead. When he won for us he demolished his rivals despite seaming well out at the weights. He’s very lightly raced for his age and has been prolific in the point to point scene. He should have the stamina for the trip in a race the trainer knows well despite not having tried it before. He could be the best horse the trainer has had and should go really well if he can be kept together before the festival.
Currently at 8/1 with bet365 I can’t see him being much shorter on the day so I see little value in placing the bet now so we will look again when the festival starts.
