When betting or playing cards the objective is to beat the bank but a horse of that name looks a vulnerable favourite in one of richest races of the day. It’s the start of the Cambrdgeshire meeting on a weekend that also features the most prestigious Flat race in Europe. Enable looks like a penalty kick in the Arc at Chantilly on Sunday but today’s standout bet is Zonderland in the 3.35pm race at Newmarket.
On ratings there is little to choose between the selection and Beat The Bank, a horse that has had just one defeat in five starts this season. Its true Beat The Bank is the ratings pick but Zonderland has the form to deliver in this Group 2 contest for horses aged three and older. Whitecliffsofdover gets the age allowance but ZONDERLAND is a smart colt who has leading claims on the form:
The previous event at Newmarket is also a Group 2 race and all the pointers suggest the most likely winner is Nyaleti. The horse has plenty of form in the bank to be a worthy favourite. Nyaletti has run consistently in very good races including most recently when third at Doncaster. Running from a favourable draw NYALETI can be a winning favourite in the Rockfel Stakes (Newmarket 3.00pm):
After a European football week and before a full schedule of fixtures in the Premier League the main match this evening is the West London derby between the home side QPR and Fulham. The visitors have had better results on the road this season to date than at Craven Cottage and they can avoid defeat in this fixture.
Rangers have kept one clean sheet in the last 14 matches against Fulham and have key injuries for the latest meeting later. Fulham have been identified as contenders for a promotion and a move up to the Premier League. To be taken seriously in that context FULHAM must win fixtures of this nature and they can get the job done at Loftus Road tonight:
England are playing a game of cricket today but Ben Stokes is unavailable for selection. However, the home side can secure a 4-0 outcome (one match rained off) by beating West Indies in the fifth and final One Day International. You are being done no favours at 2/9 with Skybet for an ENGLAND win but that can happen even though Ben is absent because he hurt his hand the other night.
It’s the calm before the storm of the Cambridgeshire and Arc but there are plenty of opportunities to beat the bank!
