I spoke last week of losing streaks and how we manage them with using an appropriate sized bank. Once we have our selection process and bank sorted one of the next important things is getting the best price.
When betting I always explain to people the importance of getting the right odds for their bet. We need to have as many bookmaker accounts as possible and use the exchanges as well.
When we go shopping we always look for the best price on the goods we are buying and this should be the same when striking a bet. If I have several selections to be bet on a particular day I will break them down into two sections. The first being the shorter priced horses at the top of the market, the second being the longer priced horses. As early as possible I will then spread my bets around the bookmaker accounts as this is where I can get best odds guaranteed on the shorter priced bets. For the longer priced horses I will then put a bet onto one of the exchanges to get matched. I can usually get much better prices on the long shots. I have often got matched at 25/1 on a horse that is 16’s with the bookmakers. By being more thorough with our approach to betting and getting the odds we can massively increase our profits.
So we now have our betting bank sorted and also a better way of making sure we are maximising our profits. Next week I’ll be going through some selection processes and how to make them work as part of a betting portfolio.
