MCRacing Confirming The Selections

December 3, 2014 By admin Leave a Comment

Now that I have found the race contenders through the ratings I now have to confirm that they are not throwing me completely off track. So what I will do is use other information to either confirm that the contender becomes a selection or not.

What I will do now is to use various different websites to glean as much information as possible to confirm the selection, firstly I open up the race card on Betfair free site and make sure that I hide all comments by the writer for that race as I don’t want to be swayed by someone else’s opinion . I then click on the runner that I am interested in and then click on the drop down box for course and select the one I’m after, followed by distance and see if we have form over C/D or further and then lastly from the next drop down see if there is any form on the ground or to see if the days ground will be a problem.

The example in Fig 1 is the previous form of Wonderful Charm from the last article.

You can read that here – http://blog.betfan.com/betting-knowledge/mcracing-selections/
So for example that race was 2m 5f 110y on soft ground at Newton Abbott. As you can see the ground wouldn’t of caused a problem, it had C/D form had won 5 times between  2m 4f and 2m 6f, so all in all we had a very strong contender. I would go through that process with all horses that I considered to be contenders  which in this case were,

1.Wonderful Charm
2.Double Ross
3.Taquin Du Sol

And the two mentioned contenders above didn’t quite have as good stats in that department as the selection.

What I’m looking for is not necessarily  winning form but information that  tells me that the selection will be competitive in the race.

I then fire over to the GeeGeez website where they have a very good form filter on their race cards, for which I can find out what class ( I also use Racing Post for this)the contender has been running in and if It has any form in that class as well.

Fig 2     Wonderful Charm

And as you can see the selection should be well in contension as it had been running in and winning in class1 and class2 company, as had the other two contenders.

I then move to another card on the GeeGeez site where I can get information about the likely pace of the race through the in running notes for each horse and gain an idea on how the race might be run etc. Basically what I’m trying to find out from that is if the selection is going to front run, and if he will be taken on for the lead (which would probably scupper our chances) or will he be held up or even run just off the pace, whatever it may be I’m trying to see how the race will run and if it will suit.

So in essence no selection is made or given out without thorough consideration to its chances of running a good race, obviously some will always slip through the net and run right stinkers and have no explaination whatsoever , but I know with the processes I go through I will have significantly more good runs than bad.

Well I hope the three articles together have given you all an insight on how I go about things and come to my final decisions on any selection that I put out and I hope to grab your attension for any future articles that I may write in the future .

Regards

Mick
