Happy New Year to everyone, I hope you all had a great Christmas and that Santa gave you all that you were expecting.
Most of you have probably failed in your new years resolutions already which is the norm especially when we normally make them we have probably had too much to drink even if they are made with every best intension and sincerity it’s just our nature.
For those of you that are still in there well done and make sure you keep the desire to fulfil your ultimate goal.
Personally I don’t make resolutions for myself at the start of every year I always have the same goal in mind and that is to make more profit year on year, which is why I’m always looking to add mini systems or even improve existing ones. With that in mind I decided that I would try and improve MCRacing to try and make more profit than the previous year.
For my members who have been with me over the last three months whether it’s been from the beginning or just part of it would have seen a dramatic drop from previous results, for which there may be varying reasons some I have managed to Identify and some I’m still looking at and because with all ratings based systems they are ever changing I need to evolve with them to keep everything going in the right direction.
It’s pretty safe to say that I have been disappointed with the start of the service, but I do know we are coming back into known territory and things should take a good upswing in fortunes.
So In December 2014 I had pretty much made the decision that I wanted to give something back to my members, in that I would add one of my other systems into the service and I started posting those selections in that month on my facebook page which you can view here to give members a chance to comment and even disagree that they should be used. In the 21 day period that I posted them they made a profit of around 25 points, so it was a no brainer that I would add them to the service , and the members got to see first hand what they would be getting.
On adding them to the service I was asked a very good question by one of my members. ( well there were a few actually but my explanation here will hopefully answer them all )
“Will we need to increase our betting bank to cover the extra selections ?”
Now considering that I had been putting my members through the mill over the last three months I could hardly all of a sudden expect them to willingly up their betting banks, so what I decided to do was to convert certain selections from being back only but to utilise the each way side of betting while we could see what impact the extra selection had on the service at a whole.
It’s all well and good having the new selections but like all systems they will inevitably have its own losing runs and if they were all to happen at the same time then whoops there goes the bank. So with that in mind I thought that it would be sensible utilise this, and it would be used as sparingly as possible as not to effect the profits of the service overall, so I crunched the numbers from the results that I had from last year for the new added selections.
So the figures for last year for the new system just backing them were
• 347 selections
• 93 winners
• 254 losers
• 26.80% strike rate
• 384.53 points profit (at our current staking Plan)
• 110.81% ROI (return on investment)
In amongst those results there were a total of 17 losing runs of between 5 and 18, now if I was to unleash that on the service without having extra points in the bank then it would all end in tears.
If we were to go each way on certain runners which I think at around 5/1 we actually up the profit and ROI as follows ( the figures will be slightly different for selections because of placing place part of the bet as an extra bet for the betfair market)
• 366 selections
• 168 winners
• 198 Losers
• 45.90% strike rate
• 415.94 points profit ( at our current staking plan )
• 113.64% ROI (return on investment )
We also cut our losing runs down to 7 between 5 and 10.
As you can see for the new selections going down the each way route is a slightly more profitable way of going about our business for the time being and if you go back over the results of the service for the past three months we had plenty of the selection running into a place or getting pipped at the post to finish placed.
So effectively what we are doing is protecting our stake on the each way selections ( if it places of course), which in turn protects the bank that bit better , we do lose out sometimes if the selection actually wins but over the long term we should come out on top.
What I will not be doing is putting up marginal selections as an each way option only if I think we are going to go off at a bigger price and again if I think the selection has a better chance of winning than actually placing then it will stay as a back bet, I know that sounds weird but sometimes we are either going to win or finish nowhere.
Anyway to that end I hope that I have explained why I have gone down the route that I have and I hope you will all join me in a profitable year and why not pop on over to my face book page and join in the banter and to see how our selections get on on a daily basis, you might even see something you like and join in and why not give my page a like.
All The Best
