Last week I looked at how we could use trainer stats to quickly come up with a list of horses with a decent chance. If you missed it you can see it here – http://blog.betfan.com/uncategorized/trainer-stats-a-way-use-them-quickly/
Moving on from that then, I wanted to look at how we could make that shortlist even better and actually come up with some decent bets.
As we did last week, once we’ve come up with the trainers that are showing a good strike rate at the course we want to see how their horses have actually performed over the course, going and distance. This will show us that the horse is capable in today’s conditions.
Once we have selected the race that our trainer’s horse is running in we have a handy little tool that most people overlook.
Today I have selected Catterick and the trainer Richard Fahey. He has a 23% strike rate around this track and has a fair few entered for today’s card. One of his runners looks like it might have a chance at a big price.
Scroll to the bottom of the card and you’ll see the above. Click on Stats and you’ll see trainers, jockeys and horse’s historical stats.
Look at the horse English Summer. He’s won twice on the going, 12 times over the distance and 3 times at the course. Now I appreciate that there are plenty of other factors to consider but with the trainer’s good strike rate and the above stats, then English Summer has to be in with a chance. He’s around 14/1 and worth an each way tickle in my opinion.
Have a go and combine last week’s quick method and use today’s method to find yourself some qualifiers for the day and paper trade them to see how you’d do.
I’ll be back next week with a look at jockeys, combine that with the above and show you how to quickly price your own horse and look for that value!
