It’s a case of goodbye flat hello jumps today as Ascot stage the end of season jamboree Champions Day whereas Cheltenham where the Don will be in attendance stage there first Saturday of the season.
I’ve attended the two previous Champions Days and they were all about Frankel to be honest so it was an easy decision today, give me Cheltenham any day and today will be busy but you can see the horses and get around the course. It really is an amazing place and with more redevelopment promised it’s going to be one of the top racecourses in the World.
Unlike other BetFan columnists I’m still not convinced that we needed a Breeders Cup style Champion’s Day but that’s what we have on soft ground at a half empty Ascot. Ascot has begun to throw up strange results over the last couple of years and course form here is priceless so stick horses who have run well here right at the top of your shortlist.
But it’s to Cheltenham we go for our Saturday special as the Don is looking forward to getting really stuck into the Jumps this season and I want you to let me mark your card on Saturday’s but through the whole week as well so get with me at the links below. Im convinced that Paul Nicholls is going to be desperate to prove he is still the top man after losing his title to Nicky Henderson last season and he gave my private members a good winner yesterday. In the 2.00 today he runs Aerial a promising young chaser who he has put back over hurdles. This is a useful horse and the Trainer will have him wound up for today and I think he has the beating of this lot on good ground. Take the 7/1 with Bet365 and back him each way as the combination of Nicholls and Daryl Jacob is still as good as it gets in the jumps game.
Have a great day watching both Ascot and Cheltenham on the box and as always Trust in the Don!
Back next Saturday.
