Well another uninspiring days racing which I can only describe as bread and butter stuff. Still not to worry as next week we have the fab Ebor festival from York to look forward to.
The best meetings today are at Beverley, Salisbury and Yarmouth where quite a few of the favourites looked to have decent chances but when it comes to putting up free tips I do like to find something a bit more obscure that the World and its wife don’t know about.
Don’t you just love the tipsters that used to tip up Frankel every time it ran and then crow about it when it won as if they knew something that the rest of us were in the dark about.
You see my philosophy is why should you guys pay people like me for information you can read about in any daily newspaper. At the end of the day clients join a tipping service yes to make a profit but also to be given news and info that is not available in the general publics domain.
Betfan, it has to be said have some of the best tipsters and advisors on their books and anyone that doesn’t cut the mustard is soon kicked in to touch regardless of any claims they might make.
Anyway getting back to the days free tip I’m finding it difficult to make a selection with so many jollies looking good. Lady Cecil sends one up to Beverley that seems strong but I’m sure it won’t be much bigger than 5/4 so I have decided to plump for the 5.40 Yarmouth for Howies Hottie.
My selection is Captain Scooby from Richard Guests yard. The old gelding hasn’t won for a while but has been running well in defeat. Today he gets into this weak sprint handicap off a basement mark of 49 having run and won off much higher ratings in his pomp.
Also the clincher was that he has a good 5lb claimer in the saddle and he likes soft ground if Hurricane Bertha is still in the area.
At the time of writing I have not seen any early prices but would expect him to be priced up around 7/2.
Sacred Square trainer D.McCain – A very easy winner at Brighton for Brighton boss Tony Bloom who tipped up the horse when interviewed on Attheraces. The gelding could win again on the flat or go back hurdling either way worth following.
Habeshia trainer J.Best – Drawn on the wrong side of the track at Yarmouth but still ran a decent race. The horse can win a low grade handicap.
Buxton trainer R.Ingram – 4th at Lingfield last week where he gave the front runners to much rope. He is well in at the weights and when he gets a fast run race he should go close.
Ballesteros trainer R.Fahey – Placed on Shergar Cup day at Ascot last week this gelding needs very soft ground to be seen at his best.
Englishman trainer C.Hills – Just seemed to find the extra furlong against him at Newmarket a drop to 6 furlongs on an easy surface looks the answer.
Back next Wednesday have a good week and be lucky.
