Yesterday as they say was one of those days and the Don stood at Newbury somewhat cheesed off.
I had received information on the Lady Cecil trained Noble Mission and was able to get my members on at 9/2 yesterday morning.
Noble Mission was very strong in the market as everyone latched on to what I’ve known for a few days. James Doyle is not riding well and of course is now on all the Abdullah horses. I cannot completely blame him for the horses defeat but he seems to give horses an awful lot to do on occasions. No the main blame has to go to Noble Mission himself who on getting to the lead decided to pull himself up still only beaten a short head.
There is nothing worse than backing and advising horses that should win but don’t win either through the jockey or the horse itself. Noble Mission is a highly talented horse who should be almost group 1 level but the space between his ears means I fear his talents will never be fulfilled.
Anyway it’s still been an amazing month we are massively in profit and I’m looking upwards not down. We are at a tricky part of the year with flat horses coming out of hibernation and it’s vital we find out which stables are forward and which are sluggish.
I shall be on home turf this week as it’s the Craven at Newmarket, It will have to be a good performance to banish the memory of Kingman in yesterday’s Greenham. I know how much the Hannon mob think of the second and Kingman jogged by him as though he wasn’t there. Providing it’s not firm on Guineas day we have seen the winner Kingman!
We will be having some major bets planned for Newmarket this week so if you are not already involved in my private service this is a good time to join me!
The Jump Racing in the UK is terrible today so for our Sunday cracker we venture over to the Curragh and the 3:55 Gladness Stakes. This is a decent Group 3 the sort of race you won’t see here on a Sunday sadly and I’ve had a strong word for Sruthan @ 7/2 with Betvictor. He finished last season by winning a similar contest on similar ground and he is fit and ready to take this.
Enjoy your weekend, it’s going to be a big week at Newmarket, join me and as always Trust in the Don!
Back next Sunday.
