We came agonisingly close on Sunday night as Hunter Mahan was just pipped for the World Matchplay Title in the freezing cold snow filled Arizona Desert (I know may as well have looked out of the window).
That Tournament signals the end of the West Coast Swing and we now begin the Florida Swing starting with an absolute cracker that has brought out all the local residents who are also known as the World’s top golfers. Tiger, Rory, Lee Westwood you name them they are all Florida residents and are all playing this week at the very tricky Champion course in Palm Beach for the Honda Classic.
I predicted a poor showing from Tiger and Rory last week and they promptly both lost in the first round so they will need to improve if they are to repeat their first and second place finishes in this event last year. Rory will surely have put some work in this week because he looked rusty last week whilst Tiger was grumpy and wild off the tee.
This course is not long by US standards but it is extremely tricky and needs to be played with precision.
It contains one of the most brutal stretches of Golf in the World of golf that can be heartbreaking to watch as players can drop multiple shots in this three hole stretch of golfing hell. The holes are 15 to 17 and are known as the Bear Trap. The player that masters the Bear Trap will walk away as Champion it really is that significant and if the wind gets up standby for the World’s top golfers to be made to look very ordinary indeed, lets be honest who wouldn’t enjoy that!
Sky last week in their wisdom decided to bring Monty back on the team after his hugely criticised role in the Ryder Cup Broadcasts and you have to say it went from bad to worse.
After saying “er er” constantly Monty does appear to have developed amnesia when it comes to his own antics on the golf course. He accused Aussie Jason Day of having a bad attitude, perhaps, but this from a man who grabbed a camera off a female spectator and claimed he was put off by a steward who was stood fifty yards behind him at the time. They will be having Woods on giving Marriage guidance tips next.
We have four selections this week so join us as one of them is a huge price, get with the service that has had winners at up to 200/1 that’s enough to warm up anyone!
