VJ Singh nearly landed the jackpot for Golf Bet Profit members on Sunday but in the end was placed. However, on Sunday morning we got stuck into Jonas Blixt who went on to claim his first win on Tour. The ratings had picked out that Blixt although had never won tended to score better when nearer the lead which proved correct.
VJ at 49 is knocking on the door but I wonder if he has missed his chance to get a final win after a couple of crazy holes on Sunday which cost him the title.
It was still an amazing effort and he is still in incredible shape and if he plays the Seniors Tour next year it could be carnage for the old boys. They will want him to stay where he is for a good few years.
This week the PGA Tour is in Georgia at Sea Island which is a beautiful seaside course. This is one of the easier weeks on Tour unless the wind gets up. The long range forecast suggests only moderate breezes so we are looking for skilled iron play and a red hot putter. This course was redesigned by Tom Fazio in 1998 but in honesty that has not really worked and we will see several rounds in the low sixties this week. An easy course puts pressure on the players as you know you need to be making putts from day one so a cool head is necessary.
This is unusual for the PGA Tour as it has many features of a classic Scottish links course which is the opposite of the normal whack it as hard off the tee as you can inland courses they play. This has been traditionally won by a shorter hitter who plots his way round although there is a monster 582 par 5 which will test the big boys if they want to get on in two.
I’m really looking forward to this week because it is a Tournament where the ratings have shone over the years and I have some very big priced selections for members to get stuck into.
I look forward to seeing you on the fairways because this week could be very special for Golf Bet Profits. Don’t read about it next week be part of the action!
Back next Tuesday.
