Justin Rose will be still walking on air 48 hours on from his emotional triumph at Merion on Sunday.
Rose lost his Father who was also his coach and mentor several years ago to Cancer and so on Fathers day it was fitting that this genuinely nice man held his nerve to beat Phil Mickelson and land the US Open.
I wrote last week that Mickelson had put the work in and at 43 maybe had one big title in him, as he sloped away on Sunday after leading all week he looked a broken man. But Rose deserved it because he had the lowest score after four rounds. Those that said the course was too short to worry the top players looked foolish as huge scores were racked up. Woods and Mcilroy struggled all week with Woods scowling and muttering constantly and Rory shaking his head and then on Sunday smashing his club, they didn’t look like they will be popping back for a quick nine holes when they have a day free.
Rose now can go on and win other Majors and he will be a threat at our Open next Month unless they up there game and their attitude Tiger and Rory will not!
This week we will be betting on both Tours and we have two good Tournaments, the BMW in Germany and The Travellers Championship on the PGA Tour. Rose tees it up but I would imagine he will be exhausted and I wouldn’t be amazed if he missed the cut. It pays to avoid players who have contended in majors the week after as the adrenalin used up leaves them wanting and we have selections who either missed or were out of the pressure zone.
Sunday night proved again for excitement and drama nothing beats golf betting so come on board and join us.
I look forward to seeing you on the fairways.
Back next Tuesday.
