Seung Yul Noh claimed his first victory on the PGA Tour and who could begrudge him his win in New Orleans as a clear emotional player dedicated his victory to the victims of that terrible plane crash.
The final round was shown live in South Korea and his victory was met with wild celebrations. Given this pressure he did so well to hang on and it shows yet again the power of sport to make a country smile, take note England Football team!!
This week the show moves on to one of the trickiest venues Quail Hollow for the Wells Fargo. Last year the average was 73 and it’s a par 72 so that’s right folks the best players in the World couldn’t average Par!
This is largely owing to the final three holes or as commentator David Fehrty described it a journey into golfing hell. The last three are known as the Green Mile and not because Tom Hanks or a large black guy who cures people are lurking on the tee!
No this green mile is about as much fun as being on death row though and ranks as three of the hardest holes anywhere in the World never mind on one golf course. Hold onto your bets because this Tournament will alter and ultimately be decided here!
Young Rory is the fave and it’s hard to argue with that after he won with the finest round of golf I’ve ever seen a 62 to win here three years ago. 62 round Quail Hollow doesn’t happen and Phil Mickelson has said it might be as near to perfect as golf will ever be played. Two years ago Rory lost in a playoff to Rickie Fowler so he has a real liking for round here. He doesn’t seem quite the same player yet this year when the pressures on so it will be a real test for where he is in his mind and in his game.
We have four strong bets this week on a course we have been very successful at in the past.
Join us, I look forward to seeing you on the Green Mile!
Back next Tuesday.
