Starting to loathe Friday nights as Romford is tuning into a grave yard for my selections at present. The one thing you get with me unlike a lot of tipsters is honesty. My two selections bombed as did my ante post selections for the Essex Vase. A pants performance! ‘The only way is up’ as the song goes.
Saturday saw the usual RPGTV fare that fails to excite this greyhound tipster. Though I had a bit of info for one at Crayford in the Guys & Dolls competition I’m very reluctant to bet there. Yes it went and won – never tipped it – never backed it! I sent out two ante post advices as promised over at Shelbourne Park for the Comerford Cakes Puppy Stake. Both qualified comfortably for next weeks semi final. Angus the dog text me with one that he said was too big for tomorrow at Henlow.
No kennel visit this Sunday – up early and posting out my Henlow selection Conall to subscribers while sitting at my Tenerife Hotel Poolside Bar having a nice bit of breakfast. Enjoying my break but I’m so looking forward to my return to the UK to go racing again and watch my dogs. Well my selection Conall broke well but bottled it at the corner, dropped to last, he finished well, only beaten three lengths. He won’t be getting anymore of my hard earned.
Monday woke up to cloudy morning with a light drizzle to match my mood over on the isle of Fernando I was keen to get a winner. Angie Kibble’s dogs are running very well at Coventry and I had a good word for Swords Jacko who had done us a good turn before. The favourite Mountjoy Rebel was obvious danger but Jacko connections were very bullish. He needed to trap well to avoid trap two and three turning left. What happens he falls out gets crowded run up by the time he gets clear daylight he’s five behind the jolly, he closes him down to a length at line. He lost more than that length at lid rise. He was the best dog in the race but you don’t get paid out for that!!
Tuesday and it was time for Mrs GMT and I to jet back to Essex, we had a lovely break though I was keen to return to watch my new dog Goes Hot run at Romford tomorrow night, along with the Essex Vase Semi Finals. I decided on a no bets day – as were going through a mini poor patch at present. No bullshit on this blog. I tell it as it is! Still it’s been a really good 2013 for all my loyal followers. Pleasing though it is to see Boylesports & B365 price up races on non RPGTV nights.
Wednesday saw my mini poor run continue with my Romford Essex Vase selection Bridge Ruth both ante post and to win her semi final and defy trap 1 which isn’t helpful over the 575 metre distance. Predictably she fell out and all three heats were won by the trap 3 runners. It’s a wide open final next Tuesday on Sky but I’m keen on Reel Trickyone fastest split & semi winner and he’s wearing the white vest again!
Decided it was time to stop the rot and stick one in the back of the net after missing the target since last Wednesday. I carefully scanned the Hove & Henlow cards. Gave due consideration to two bigger priced tips but discretion gave way to valour, so I mentioned I was keen on Bodell Sheila at Henlow but was a tad short at 11/10 but looked a sure fire winner. So the hammer came down on Derek Knights Watch N’Learn who had land us a touch over at Romford a few weeks back. He looked the one to score. No dramas the dog did exactly what I thought he would hosing up advised at 11/8 and was returned 4/5f.
Sheila duly won at Henlow and yes guess what? Both my bigger priced fancies both won 8/1 & 6/1 – did I do a Yankee of course not but four single winners was more than enough to make the bookies uncomfortable overnight!
Right let’s keep all the Betfan newsletter readers happy by selecting a winner for them at Romford tonight. Spencer Mavrias dog Priceless Max looks the best bet on the card in the lucky last. He has the best form over c&d and can put these to the sword.
Be Lucky!
