Greyhound Master Tipster

December 20, 2013 By admin Leave a Comment

Had yet another busy Friday morning as I was going to Monmore with fellow owners Carpo and Cheesey to watch Blackstone Marco in his Lawrence Jones Memorial Final. So I was up really early to sort out the Romford selection which again doubled as a free tip. I do like a bitch in form and Dave Mullins Ali’s Avenger fitted the bill. This appeared a good opportunity from a lovely rails draw. Marco ran a blinder coming runner up behind a runaway winner Pay Freeze – we thoroughly enjoyed the day out, with lots to look forward to with Marco in 2014. Ali’s Avenger let Allen Buttercup get first run and just couldn’t pull her back going down by a neck!

Saturday on RPGTV never normally excites me and thankfully today was no exception as we all were suffering at breakfast in our Wolverhampton hotel. Last night was a blur but I seem to remember the Indian was first class. Cheesey was keen on some all weather horses in fact he has an inner at Michael Appleby’s yard which was useful on the way home on the ipad as he banged home a couple of winners! Quiet night in looking at Henlow card tomorrow.

Up early Sunday for dog walking duties and well deserved treats for all my dogs. All seemed really well which is good news. Angus the dog concurred with my thoughts on the best bet of the day – Blackrose Rebel I tipped it accordingly as a near maximum bet, but as the night’s racing progressed it was apparent that the Blackrose dogs were all out of form. It would have a been a lay situation if I could have contacted everyone. It was a strange evening with nearly all the favourites turned over! I will have to re-think my strategy for 2014 as it appears I carry a lot of clout when I tip one up.

Monday saw me watching all the weekends videos and making notes. I was also waiting for the bookies to price up the evenings opens. Once priced up I set about looking for what is an elusive winner this week, there were two dogs on my radar but only wanted to tip one. I choose Swords Jacko rather than last weeks tip Affane Scolari – yes I picked the wrong one.

Jacko was crowded on the run up where Scolari took advantage of a pile up with his rail pitch. Not impressed!

No opens on Tuesday which to be honest wasn’t a bad thing as I need to re-group after poor week so far, but I have been through much worse scenarios and to be honest I know my class will prevail. I want to finish the very good year off in style and remain no 1 tipster with betfan in 2013. So I went to Romford to watch my dog Head iton Tom trial over 575 he went very well with a 13.70 split and a calculated 35.96 – he visibly blew up and will be better for the spin round. Be lovely to see him back in action on track over the festive period.

Again no open racing in the UK Wednesday but it has given me most of the day to study the Sky card at Belle Vue tomorrow night. I forgot to mention that Head iton Tom has been nominated as a contender for RPGTV dog of the year. All you have to do to vote for Tommy is email RPGTV@racing post.com – put GOTY in the subject box – and who your voting for in the body of the email – Head iton Tom – He’s 4 1/2 years young now and was in the best form of his career in 2013.

A big day for the GMT to get back on track for December and we were spoiled for choice with Sky cameras at Belle Vue, RPGTV at Hove & Henlow. Having done my research we are of course going to Belle Vue for my selections. I decided on split stakes in the Laurels Final with reasons to support both Mileheight Alba and Thinking Big. Alba landed the prize and a much needed winner for us. I hoped to land the double with Greenwell Lark in the Oaks Final but try as she might she just couldn’t get past Droopys Daneel. But it was a profitable night none the less.

Free Tip time again over to Romford we go and a selection is picked from the early priced up flying four races. I like Droopys Odell in the lucky last. Seamus Cahill’s dog impressed on Essex Vase Final night winning by a long way in a fast time. I think he can win tonight and become a major player in the Coronation Cup early in the new year. He is short but looks a good thing to me.

Romford 10.40 Trap 2

Back next Friday.
