The festive break continues as does Andy Bell’s hot streak at the top of ten Betfan table for December. RPGTV was back on our screens with the usual open fare from Romford. I quickly noticed that there was no Allen Buttercup for Ali’s Avenger to worry about tonight.
But I said last week we won’t be backing her again – I expected however not to be taking her on but we did with Yassoo Kitty who looked to have a great chance of leading Avenger. Yes you guessed it Avenger somehow found the resolve to stop Kitty at the first bend and hold her all the way round. Then to compound matters free tip Steves Dream just about got round the 1st bend avoiding the carnage to be headed on the lollipop by a 10/1 rag. I have had better nights that’s for sure!
Yet another Saturday saw the usual graded fare on RPGTV so no bets advised. Again to amuse myself I had a little dabble on the horses in the afternoon – yet again I landed a nice treble which pleased me no end – it’s easy this horse racing game. Might give that a go with Betfan next year – and shake up the horsemen of the betfan apocalypse!!
Phoned Angus the dog about Henlow’s card tomorrow – he summed it up in one word – tricky! Not music to my ears with the month coming to an end and a winner to be found.
Saw the sun shining on a frosty Sunday Essex morning and woke up with a spring in my step but this was quickly deflated by a look at they Betfan leader board – My Lucky 15 had indeed got lucky yesterday and landed one worth over 180 points – how can I compete with that!! I can’t!! Took Mrs D with me to walk my greyhounds and ease the pain of losing the No 1 spot. Spent all afternoon looking for something that wasn’t there on the Henlow card and bottled tipping a maximum bet on a 10/1 shot, instead I went with a more respectable 5/2 shot which was backed into 6/4 by my subscribers and friends. Therein lies the problem because of the heavy market support there was a worry that the dog wouldn’t run his race. That’s how it panned out and it’s happened before at the Bedfordshire track.
Woke up with lots on my mind Monday as I needed to review and I’m looking to improve my service for 2014. I finished 3rd for the whole of 2013 with Betfan and I’m pleased with my performance overall. There was no dog racing worth my attention so no selections were sent out. Same applied on Tuesday and Wednesday with no greyhound racing worth talking about.
New Year’s Day evening I was out with all my family for a lovely meal where my beautiful daughter in law decided to go into labour. So my first grandchild, Poppy-Rose was eventually born in the early hours of the morning. My intended selections from Hove were put on the back burner as I was all over the place after little sleep and the subsequent hospital visits later in the day. Got home in time to watch Exiles Hawk my maximum bet from Sunday win to prove my point I made earlier about heavy market support from early advice.
Now Fridays mean Romford and they feature the first big competition of the year the Coronation Cup. Droopys Odell looks a worthy favourite to me for this six heat competition but there are some plays at bigger prices IMO.
Here are my three ante post selections against the field.
Happy New Year!
Coronation Cup Ante Post (Final 14/01/14 live on sky) (1/4 odds 1st 4)
Droopys Odell 6/1 win bet
Hometown Honey 20/1 generally ew bet
Britania Rachael 33/1 generally ew bet
