I must start by replying to the accusations that I swerved meeting the Betfan’s racing big guns at Cheltenham. For a start Cheltenham Festival is not the easiest place to meet anyone and secondly there wasn’t a big enough room to house all the egos in attendance, and lastly I didn’t bring my brown suit which I thought had long gone out of fashion.
Credit where it is due however I applaud the Gambling Don winning the challenge and taking the £5k from Belly boy that should shut him up for a while, I would like to see the video of the cash changing hands though!
Friday early start which saw all roads lead to Monmore to cheer on my dog Blackstone Marco in the Ladbrokes Spring Festival Dogs 480 Final. Having snapped up the 25/1 and 20/1 ante post his blistering heat win in 27.96 saw him favourite for the Final. We had several other live chances in the supporting Finals. They didn’t work out as the heat form was all overturned but Marco came from three lengths behind Lode Henry to force a dead heat. An outright win would have been nice, but half of the 25/1 & 20/1 was better than nothing. We celebrated the win back at the hotel then at our favourite Wolverhampton curry house.
Over at Romford the free tip Droopys Move ran on extremely well but couldn’t quite catch the favourite Droopys Field going down three parts of a length.
Saturday saw no bets advised as there was virtually no open greyhound racing anywhere but all was not lost as I took note of Simon Holden’s Betfan TV tips – the first of which was Goulanes 8/1 in the Midlands Grand National and followed up on Sunday with Arsenal to beat Spurs at 6/4 – cheers Simon. It pays to tune into Betfan.com/tv. I take it Simon had hefty bets on both selections as he’s currently on vacation in Malta.
Sunday saw me decide not to bet at Henlow anymore as it’s not the first time we have backed a blatant non trier. I’m now looking at Sittingbourne on the bags for our Sunday betting opportunities.
Monday and Tuesday were both very quiet days with little or nothing to tempt me into having a bet. Even Wednesday saw the usual graded action on RPGTV but I put up a small stakes treble for subscribers at Swindon but we had no luck there.
Thank god it’s Thursday as the Hove card was decent and served up some value tipping opportunities. I sent out my selections for subscribers and duly backed them myself. I do this with all my selections. Dinner Hunter looked like he needed the run Sparta Maestro had every chance but the always underrated Britannia Joan won at 5/1 ensured we had a profitable night!
Today sees the semi finals of the Golden Sprint take place at Romford. Subscribers saw our selections all make it safely through but I’m adding to my portfolio.
However I will always try and supply a free tip winner for my newsletter readers.
I think that you will see the real Dower Matt tonight – Ernie Gaskin’s charge was destroying his opposition in 2014 before injury intervened. He looked as if last weeks run was badly needed and he can turn over Lough Messi in his semi final tonight.
