As a gambler you can live and die by the sword. It’s all about opinions in the greyhound game and trusting your instinct and knowledge. I’m yet to hit the heights of last year so far in the first quarter of 2014. We are in front but nowhere near the profits I and my subscribers are looking for.
I trust in my ability and know that a very good spell is just round the corner as I have come through more difficult spells before. My all time Betfan results confirm that.
Friday didn’t go to plan as my free tip and subscribers selection were both well beaten. The only crumb of comfort is our 7/1 ante post voucher on Lough Messi who is now the 11/8 favourite for this coming Fridays Final.
Saturday saw no bets advised as there was no decent open racing on – I also left the horses alone. Carpo rung me from Swindon where he had gone to watch Marco trial in preparation for the upcoming Arc. Carpo was very excited by Marco’s trial and we look forward to watching him race there this coming Friday.
Sunday saw my usual routine of kennel visit followed by going out for a spot of Sunday Lunch. I was home later than normal due to unforeseen circumstances and I decided to swerve a very late selection at Henlow. Typically the late selection I had in mind won at 5/1 and would have been advised at 7/1. If you tuned into or recorded RPGTV I sent in an email as my trainer Mark Wallis was a guest on the show, the email contained my selection!
Monday is catch up day but was primarily spent looking at Tuesdays Sky card. Though I did fancy a couple at Nottingham but didn’t put them up as I expected to have several bets lined up for the Sky meeting. You can guess the rest – both of them duly won!
Tuesday up with the larks to send out advice to my subscribers for the Trainers Championship Card. Three bets were backed accordingly put up to subscribers. Two on Mark Wallis dogs and one him him to win trainers championship w/o Charlie Lister. It was a long wait until the action in the evening but during race 1 which we had no involvement in set the tone of night. Mark’s Sidaz Dippy looked booked for second place and more importantly the seven points towards our bet on him when the trap 1 dog fought her off the track and she trailed in fifth (2 points) Murlens Crash our first bet looked like winning until the dog vying for the lead with him United Leeds ran off the bend allowing Southern Mesut to punch the race with us coming second. Aaymzamodel our second bet was crowded at the first bend tried her best but just couldn’t quite reel in the winner Crossfield Delia. The two second places amongst others meant our third bet went down as well. Though it was disappointing for all of us I for one knew we were on the right dogs it just didn’t pan out on the night!
Wednesday’s never wet the appetite as it’s graded fare from Romford & Peterborough which I swerve like wearing one of Simon Holden’s brown suits! I was hoping the Swindon Arc trial stakes were going to be priced up but that never happened.
Thursday’s Hove card was packed full of favourites to be taken on IMO. I decided on two selections that were value bets both with solid claims against the two jollys. Kielduff Blitz did exactly as I described in my email to subscribers landing us a very nice winner advised at 6/1. However I got the second selection wrong when our selection Lightning Speed missed the break which allowed the jolly Droopys Ed Moses a dream run out wide and that was that!
However the 6/1 winner was enough to keep everyone happy.
Friday sees the Final of the Coral Golden Sprint where our remaining ante post voucher Lough Messi 7/1 who is now best priced 11/8f to win it after being faultless so far. Though the race isn’t a gimme I expect him to prevail.
I’m not over at Romford as I’m heading to Swindon to watch my own dog Blackstone Marco whose running in a very good Pinpoint Arc Trial Stake tonight.
Free tip time… Sparta Maestro is one of the few dogs that breaks as well out of trap one at Romford – if doing exactly that tonight, Gemma Cooney’s dog can go onto victory.
Romford 10.11 Trap 1
Win bet @ 4/1 Generally
Back next Friday.
