I have turned away from my normal weekly diary this week as I’m really excited that the biggest greyhound event in the calendar is only two weeks away.
The William Hill Greyhound Derby at Wimbledon is worth a staggering £200,000 to the winner. The event has created a great deal of interest from English and Irish trainers alike. The trial sessions are now fully booked until the event starts and the track has put on a number of trial stakes – this Saturday sees no less than ten contests with runners from Ireland spicing things up.
There have been some flying runs in trials, trial stakes and they have given the ante post betting market a shake. The fearless Irish punters have got stuck in to their intended runners, shrewdly backing them before they came over and did there flying runs.
I prefer to let everything calm down and see what is definitely running before sorting out my ante post portfolio. This will be done a day or two before the event kicks off and sent to my subscribers. There is nothing worse than putting up a non runner in your ante post advice.
I am going to watch Wednesday’s trial session as it should be really informative, with around a hundred dogs having a spin round the Plough Lane track, I believe the RPGTV cameras are going to be there as well.
Entries close at 12 midday on Wednesday and the first round draw will take place Sunday lunchtime in the tracks long bar. How many entries received will determine the start of the Derby. More than 180 entries will need three nights of first round heats less will need just the two nights. So the Derby will start on either the Thursday 1st May or Friday 2nd May and the Final is on Saturday 31st May.
There is no better place to follow all of the action than my Greyhound Derby site which is incredibly good value for subscribers and non subscribers alike with a one off fee for the whole duration of the event. I made subscribers a good profit last year and I intend to do even better this year. Come and join in the Derby fever and let me do the hard work!
Now let’s pay for your Greyhound Derby subscription by giving you a free tip winner over at my home track Romford. I was taken with Karma Cause coming back to form on Monday by winning his heat (fastest time) of the Steve Simmons March Hare and he can repeat the dose in the Final from the same trap three box tonight.
