Usual Friday apart from Tommy not running – newsletter and free tip sent out by 9.30 then had to wait patiently and I mean patiently until the full Romford card was priced up. The bookies seem otherwise engaged on a Friday. So I set about studying the Derby Final card and Angus the dog rang me to tell me about one at Henlow on Sunday.
However I won’t be able to send out my second selection until after 5.40 when Hills who are always last priced up.
I was out at my son’s birthday meal and deliberately left my phone at home. So I watched all the action later when I got home. My subscribers selection Fahy Flojo advised at 11/4 flew out and never looked like getting beat. But my free tip Flawless Floyd 5/1 broke well but was hampered badly at the 1st bend but ran on well to finish third. He’s going to win one of these races soon. Small profit again.
Saturday saw the Final of the £200,000 William Hill Derby and a very early start is required to get the best prices on a Sky covered night. My remaining derby ante post hopes were on Mind the Net but in truth I had a gut feeling there may be an upset. I had got some very good info last week about the supporting races and passed it on across all my services.
I sent out three selections to my Derby Tips subscribers and settled on one selection for my GMT service as most of the Derby tips clients are already GMT members.
I was looking forward to joining The Cardinal and his wife at our table in the restaurant to watch all the action. My own dog Blackstone Marco was in a supporting race, he looked to be in a menacing position of the second bend but for some reason the wide seeded trap 5 decided to dive for the rails at the second bend and badly hampered Marco – race over!
Romantic Rambo 2/1 was our first winner, he broke the track record in destroying his field. Aero Nemesis 1/1 showed his class in winning the Derby Consolation – which was no consolation to all my punters & me who saw our 80/1 voucher disappear on him in the Semi Final.
Evanta Evita 9/2 landed us a very nice touch near the end of the evening to make it a very good winning night for my Derby Tips service. However the weight of expectation on Mind the Net was too much for him to carry in the Final bumped out of the race at the first bend. This left the fairy tale result with bricklayer Bruno Berwick’s dog Salad Dodger, named after the Gambling Don I believe, to land the huge first prize at a whopping 16/1. He was available at 500/1 at the start of the Derby. Though this caused me to end the Derby Tips with a slight loss after my ante post book, I took it on the chin as it was the Samson beating Goliath story. Added to the fact I cleaned up on the night – take the bookies hard earned cash.
So May ended on a very positive note with my GMT service making a pleasing 66 points profit and we were so close to landing a whopping 80/1 ante post bet in the Derby.
Sunday was a late start Mrs D and I still recovering from the all Lanson champagne we drunk at Wimbledon last night, seemed a good idea when your pockets are full of bookmakers cash – I somehow rolled out of bed and checked my phone which had a missed call from Angus the Dog he left a message confirming the two good things at Henlow for tonight. I tried to get a decent bet on with Ladbrokes but they are another firm who are restricting my bets now. However they let me have a fair bet on the double.
Backed both in singles with b365 who do let me have a decent bet. Sent out to subscribers before setting off to the dog kennels. Home then out for Sunday lunch with some friends. Watched the replays of last night before watching the action on RPGTV. Angus rang to say one of the selections was a non runner – nothing to do with it being backed off the boards from 13/8 into odds on! Worse was to follow there was a non runner in the race featuring my other selection. Were were in the hands of the very tight Henlow and consigned to SP from the 7/2 advised price. They opened 7/4 about Blackrose Tyson but he drifted out to 5/2 the same price the firms who bothered to reform the market had been betting. Tyson broke well and led by the third bend and won comfortably to start June off where May had finished. 10 points profit and even better as Ladbrokes had to pay my double as a single.
Monday I had spotted one of my notebook dogs down to run at Nottingham and I had to wait patiently for B365 to price up as they do. 9/4 was fair so I stepped in then sent out the advice to members to step in and back Target Harris. I then noticed the Skybet went 5/2 they never normally price up on a Monday – so I had some more. I went down my local turf accountants to watch – the rest is history as he trapped okay but showed blinding pace up and stopped the clock at 17.34 a new track record! He was returned 7/4f. Now that’s the kind of quality information you get from the GMT.
Tuesday I saw nothing at Sheffield that was of interest and when B365 priced up I felt they had things about right. After my blistering start to the month twenty three points up already there was no need to bet today.
Wednesday saw the Sky cameras cover Newcastle’s Pinpoint Recruitment Mini Festival though solid betting propositions were hard to come by. I always thought the Scottish Derby Form was strong and that was confirmed during the Wimbledon derby. So I thought Heather Dimmock’s Toolatetosell was the most solid bet of the evening and duly sent it out to subscribers. There wasn’t much else on the card that interested me. Though my own bitch Dear Holly was running at Romford later after the Sky coverage on RPGTV. Toolatetosell was the victim of crowding at the first bend and despite trying his best he just couldn’t catch Pond Mozart who escaped the worst of the bother. However the night finished on a plus when my Dear Holly flew out of the traps and led all the way in her A2 Romford contest.
Thursday I would have gone to Monmore to watch Marco but I have an early start tomorrow as I’m going away for a few days. I will watch on RPGTV where I put up Dean Childs Droopys London as I thought a repeat of last weeks win would land the bacon for us.
Job done Droopys London was advised to subscribers at 7/4 won but had to battle for it returned 1/1f. Then my own dog Blackstone Marco put up an awesome performance winning in a fast 28.09 from off the pace. Buzzing!
Free Tip Friday comes round quickly especially when your heading for an early flight. Only b365 have priced up as usual the night before. I see the 4/1 has been taken on Loyal Diva in the marathon. Shrewd connections involved here and they are obviously keen on there chances.
