Howard’s Wednesday Sports News

November 21, 2012 By admin Leave a Comment

The England cricket team are in turmoil against hosts India after the first test. Only Alistair Cook, Matt Prior and Graham Swann come out of the match with any credit. In fact I would say Prior is now the best wicket keeper batsman in the World. I’m sure his father in-law Ex Arsenal left back Sammy Nelson was very proud of his performance.

How the selectors could leave Sussex Spinner Monty Panesar out of the side is a mystery and perhaps the rest of the team should eat a vindaloo as curry is always good for a few runs.

Arsenal should beat Montpelier this evening although I thought they were a shade lucky to beat Spurs last week when Howard Webb had no alternative but to send off Adebayor which changed the whole complexion of the game.

At half time you probably saw the Bet365 ad with Ray Winstone where Raymondo came on with the latest live odds promoting Arsenal winning 5-2 at odds of 12/1. Well I thought that sounds a fun bet but not at that price as to me it should have been about 25/1 or more. Which brings us onto the question what represents value. The answer is complex but as one shrewd judge once said all winners are value and losers are not.

The jumping season is in full swing now and the Paddy Power meeting was great fun and excitement even if you never found a winner. I can actually pass on one to follow this season in the shape of the Giant Bolster who was placed in last years Gold Cup. Trainer David Bridgewater says the gelding has grown and should be even better this time round.

At the same time I can divulge interesting developments for next years flat Season. A new giant to rival Coolmore and Godolphin has emerged this is Qatar Racing. A group of top trainers were recently invited to the Corse Lawn Hotel in Gloucestershire for allocation of horses for 2013. The top lot the colt Hydrogen who cost 2.5 million guineas going to Peter Chapple Hyam. He will be ridden by their new contracted rider Jamie Spencer.

Before I get on to today’s racing I hope you have been investing in the eyecatchers as amongst the winners who are to numerous to mention are Bold Marc 5/1, Ace Of Spies 20/1 and Mac Gille Eoin 5/1.

Perhaps I should ask Betfan to start a paying service for these type of winners at about £1,000 a year. To be honest I’m more than happy to pass them on for free although I have been known to keep the odd one up my sleeve for paying clients.

The Bankers Bonus Banker Bets have been going great guns this month with 11 winners from 15 selections but the Bonus bets need to pick up.

Fold4gold and Bets Unleashed have just been marking time but as you know just one winning day can make a years profit as they specialise in multiple bets.

I have to say I have always wondered about many tipsters who put up more than one selection and on a given day when they all win all they have to show for it are single winners where it could have been jackpot day but we are all different with varied opinions.

As I have mentioned above the Eyecatchers have been making a packet and today at Kempton one of last Months selected horses runs in the 6.30. This is Sirius Prospect for the Dean Ivory team. The gelding has been running very well on turf in top class sprints but now is stepped up in trip to a mile.

He has winning form over 6 and 7 furlongs but the way he has been finishing his races suggests he can hopefully see out the extra furlong. Also a major plus is the booking of Graham Lee who is riding out of his skin.

The Grand National winning jockey who only this year decided to change codes is as good as anyone riding on the flat and his strength in a finish is a vital help at times.

Sirius Prospect is available at 5/1 with Bet Victor which factors in the unknown question of if he stays the extra distance as if it was a shorter race he would be no more than a 7/4 chance.

EYECATCHERS

Roy The Boy trainer A.Bailey – He went off at a million miles an hour at Lingfield and if he can be more restrained he will have every chance of the gold medal.

Pavers Star trainer .Wilson – Just beaten into 2nd place from a very wide draw which was a shame as I had him in a double with a 7/1 winner. With a more suitable stall on the inside this front runner can go well.

Parisian Pyramid trainer I.Williams – This gelding is one of the best handicapped horses on the allweather but is not quite seeing out his races. If they can find a race where he gets an uncontested lead he will be hard to beat especially if Jamie Spencer takes the mount.

Back next Wednesday be lucky.
