Its been a half decent week of action on the racing front even with the rain soaked ground still taking its toll.
In between watching racing and nipping off and doing the form study I’ve been spending a large amount of time decorating. I recently moved house which proved to be a pretty stressful time, and with Mrs MBR shouting out the orders everyday it doesn’t look like it will be getting any easier for the foreseeable future.
I have one runner who really did catch my eye this week, then one for today who is worth a bet.
Red Sherlock – (Trainer – David Pipe)
Easily the most impressive winner of the week in my opinion. This 4yr old son of Shirocco absolutely bolted up at Towcester on Thursday, and the manner in which he demolished the field suggested he could be very special. I think he will be interesting when sent over hurdles over anything ranging from 2m – 2m 4f, but is still worth following in any bumper races until then.
So onto today where I reckon you could do a lot worse than have a bet on the Donald McCain trained Swift Arrow. This fella was chasing a hat trick LTO but found things a bit tough over 2m 4f but still managed to finish a creditable 2nd to Bocciani. The drop back to 2m here should see a much better showing, and I reckon he is still a bit of value at his current price of 11/2 with our friends at Coral.
15:00 Musselburgh – Swift Arrow – Win currently 11/2 with Coral
Until next week,
