Power Naps

January 24, 2013 By admin Leave a Comment

I’m based in Thailand for two weeks. There is something slightly surreal about form reading on a hotel balcony with people texting you info about horses running at Wolverhampton with the proviso that’s if it’s on in this weather!

Given the abysmal weather and abundance of cancelled meetings my colleague the Gambling Don got the ball rolling with a Cheltenham Ante Post selection in his Saturday column. This has caused ripples through the BetFan tipster community with Max Bet Racing on Sunday and Howard from Fold4Gold taking up the challenge to throw their own into the hat.

It’s one of the many great things about the BetFan Daily News that even during a poor weeks racing jam packed with abandoned meetings when all the other punters are bored and miserable we throw on some Ante Post crackers all for free!!!

You’ve guessed what’s coming next I’m going to hit you with another one and I found a race where the Bookmakers may just have misread what’s going to happen. We are heading to the Ryanair Chase which is for those who don’t quite stay the Gold Cup trip but are not quick enough for the Champion Chase.

The fave at the moment is Flemenstar but I’m not sure he will relish the undulations of Cheltenham and there is doubt as to whether he runs in this race. That is a problem for many of the next few in the betting who have multiple entries. You really don’t want to be backing them. The horse I suggest a wager on is the reigning champ Riverside Theatre who hails from the all conquering Nicky Henderson yard. He ran well in the King George on ground too soft for him and he just ran out of gas. The trip is ideal for him and we know he will be ridden by the maestro Barry Geraghty who for me rides Cheltenham better than anyone these days. I think Sportingbet must be insane to offer 14/1 and if he lines up on the day he will be a 5/1 shot given his connections. So stick that in your portfolio and let BetFan and some of the best advisors in the business guide you towards and through the greatest Festival of them all.

Back next Thursday.
