It’s fair to say January has been a tough month with bad ground and strange results. It’s those dreadful bookies not the punters who have been laughing.
There time could soon be passing as milder more settled weather is forecast for the coming weeks meaning we might get some settled genuine jumping good to soft going and a chance to see horses race to the line as opposed to walking over it in this dreadful heavy ground. The Welsh National was a case in point last Saturday, very few horses finished and the ones that did were barely moving that being said what an extraordinary performance by Paul Carberry on Monbeg Dude the horse clouted the first few fences and somehow he nursed him round to pick the field off one by one and claim an unlikely victory. Carberry has had his critics over many years but this was ride of the year material simply astonishing horsemanship.
Saying that if it clobbers Beechers Brook or the Chair at Aintree like it did the fences at Chepstow then no one will stay on it.
It looks like Nicky Henderson has a vice like grip on the Trainers Championship and he introduced a very nice Bumper horse at Ludlow yesterday in Oscar Hoof. Members of my Stable Line Gold service filled there boots on this and by post time he was odds on. Jockey Andrew Tinkler barely moved a muscle and he ran out an eleven length winner and we were counting the cash two furlongs out. Make a note of this horse because he is very good, he may skip Cheltenham and wait for the Aintree bumper but where ever he goes give him your full attention.
Have a great punting week and join me at Power Naps as one of the most successful services there is leaves no stone unturned to bring you winners.
Back next Thursday.
