One of our greatest tracks and one of our most unique tracks stages a strong midweek meeting today, Goodwood.
Travelling up to the Sussex Downs you can’t believe there is a racecourse given the terrain but then it appears.
It really is the most beautiful of courses but don’t be fooled it is a massively tricky course to ride and to pick winners. Many horses just cannot handle the undulations and like Chester recently this place reveals who the top jockeys are and who are the also rans.
Kieran Fallon has never been a huge fan of the place but rides it well and of course Ryan Moore who is riding out of his skin at the moment seems to know exactly the right place to be. Key here is not to be caught out wide as they turn into the home straight and as punters we often have to sit and suffer as jockeys will sit on the inside and hope and pray a gap appears.
As punters we scream at the tv why is he there he is blocked in………. add your expletive we all have our own faves but at Goodwood I’m afraid there is no option because if your wide your dead.
Goodwood is a course where form repeats but does not transfer to other tracks which is always good to know on both fronts. Often we find value as punters when horses return to Goodwood after appearing in bad form at other tracks. Many punters are so obsessed by recent form they will overlook this and the horses can be under bet. This is where we need to be on.
Watch Goodwood today if you can and watch the horses and jockeys who are at home there, this will be punting gold dust for you in the future.
Back next Week.
