It really has been a mega March for Stable Line Gold after Cheltenham we have kicked on with the Midlands National winner Goulanes which we knew about several weeks ago.
We also slammed into Caulfields Venture earlier this week which is a horse you want to make a note of as there are more wins to come from this rapidly improving horse. Once Novices start improving at a rate of knots it can be difficult for anyone including the assessors to peg them back and this particular bus ride has several stops to make me thinks.
Since the Barney Curley coup our friends the Bookmakers have never rediscovered their nerve completely and yesterday they got themselves in a terrible Branstons over multiple entries by Trainer Tony Newcombe and separately owner Stephen Arnold who has recently returned from a ban.
In the seven races involved they only bet sp such was the fear factor, in reality they made themselves look rather silly because only one horse from these connections actually hit the mark the rest flopped. If the books are so frightened that certain connections can land these coups almost at will then the BHA need to start looking at how all weather is policed. The majority of emails I get questioning the validity of races and more importantly the validity of rides are concerning all weather racing.
There are other stats though that show that percentages of winning faves and form itself is truer run on the all weather surfaces than the turf and it does have a legion of fans. It will never be the spectacle that turf racing is and I pray we get no more tracks as much of it is low grade dross but it has its place. The events of this week should be heeded by the increasingly laughable BHA though because if bookmakers don’t trust and won’t bet on certain races then we have no product!
I have my bet of the year on Saturday so far on Stable Line Gold so if you want to join the service in form and one of the top all time Betfan services then I would be pleased to welcome you and a little clue it’s not on the ALL weather.
Back next Thursday.
