And so the miserable weather continues with winner finding made all the tougher by the constant heavy ground. When we get to the Cheltenham Festival it will be interesting if we get the usual good ground as there will be a seasons worth of form on heavy ground. That will make it interesting for backers and layers.
One thing not up for debate is the fact it’s terrific racing today with Newbury, Warwick and Uttoxeter all staging good National Hunt cards. Newbury stage the feature event the gold cup trial Denman chase named after the tank himself. There’s nothing anywhere near as good as he was lining up but it should be informative and lets hope for a good run from The Giant Bolster as he limbers up for the Gold Cup. The ground is too soft for him to show his best but the Trainer needs to get a run into him with the big event being just over a month away.
One horse who will love the ground is our Saturday Special bet who runs at Newbury in the 1.50 the three mile handicap hurdle. This will be a stamina sapping grind and looks ultra competitive but I think the bookmakers have shown unusual generosity in offering mud lark Knock a Hand at 12/1 especially as there are 4 places on offer. Totesport or Betfred are the places to go. This horse will be running on when many of these have cried enough and is a knocking if you will pardon the pun each way bet.
Betfan is three this week and as part of their celebrations they are offering a weeks trial on any service. Take a trial with the Don as I build towards Cheltenham, it could well be the best punting decision you’ve ever made.
Enjoy today and come on Knock A Hand.
