I find it hard to believe I’m writing this column with only the, lets be honest, garbage meeting at Southwell having beat the elements.
Even in our climate it’s difficult to believe this big freeze. Doncaster did well to race yesterday in horrible weather but like Newbury and the other turf meetings it has succumbed to the elements.
Aintree is just around the corner and already you have to feel it will be a bad ground National.
We know how much you look forward to the TGD Saturday special so we have one bet from Southwell that stands out in a dismal card.
The horse is Maggie Pink in the 4.50 at Southwell trained by a man TGD and his members have the utmost respect for Michael Appleby. The horse has its first run at Southwell today after winning very comfortably on the different surface at Wolverhampton. The yard feel that the horse may well improve for the change to Southwell’s slower track and if thats true the 2/1 Betvictor are offering looks very big to me.
Penny has assured me that today we are going shopping so it is with a heavy heart the Don has agreed but I shall return for the 4.50, I suggest you make similar plans.
Back next week for hopefully some top quality racing to get our teeth into.
