Another busy Saturday to cheer us up after another black, black week for racing.
Eddie Ahern’s future looks bleak as he has a ten year ban which is as good as saying bye bye to your career.
One minor point and I’m not condoning Ahern in fact it’s good for the game that he is gone it’s how he gets ten years and Al Zarooni who has run Racing’s equivalent to Boots the Chemist gets eight! I find it hard to believe Ahern’s race fixing posed a more serious threat to the integrity of racing than the systematic drugging of horses, I’m sure it’s something that Eddie will be mentioning in his appeal. Hopefully we have seen the last of the pair of them
Frankie Dettori says he wants to have a ride in the Derby but that looks pretty unlikely as he has not passed his latest drug test in France. With all the bad news at the moment racing needs the little man back and soon, not only is he one of the most talented race riders he also puts a smile on everyones face so please lets have him back.
Today we are racing every where but I’m giving you a strong max bet in the Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh. The horse to have a good bet on is the Aiden O’Brian trained Magician who is available at 3/1 with Stanjames which is very inviting. Magician is well up the pecking order at Ballydoyle and was hugely impressive at Chester last time, he will be ridden from the front today and draw the sting out of the others.
Lets hope he does the business for us and that racing starts to generate headlines for the right reasons. I will be back next Saturday with a Derby Special!
