I would like to apologise on behalf of Frankie Dettori for his ride on the TGD Saturday special last week.
It was that bad that I became a Cocaine addict during the race! And what was worse is that I stuck up for the little man saying he would quickly be back to his best, not on that showing.
Rant over, today we have two stupendous meetings to get stuck into I will be at my home track Newmarket but there is also the John Smiths meeting up at York. And it’s up on the Knavesmire where we go for this weeks Saturday Special and this one is mega strong. The race at 2.55 is one of the richest handicaps in Europe and will be run in front of forty thousand raucous Northerners many of whom will have been drinking the sponsors product most of the day. It makes for a unique atmosphere so we need a tough horse who is battle hardened. Willie Haggas has the fave Stencive but he is drawn high and I’m not convinced he has the pace for this. Mark Johnstone who could win with the stable cat at the moment runs Star Lahib and Fennell Bay both are feared but are weighted up to the hilt so we will pass on them. The horse I’m mega strong on has been laid out for this since winning a valuable handicap at Redcar is the David Barron trained Clon Brulee. Snap up the 9/1 with William Hill each way this morning as I have him down as half that price maybe the heat is getting to the Hills odds compilers.
He is working the house down at home I’m led to believe and has a good low draw so can tuck in and go for home two out. What was good to see at Redcar was how he battled when the pack came at him. He will need to tough it out again today but I’m convinced he is up to it.
I shall be glued to a TV in the bar at Newmarket come race time so lets hope Graham Gibbons can bring him home.
We are well in profit on the private service this month so get on board and trust in the Don! You know it makes sense.
Back next Saturday.
