The usual Saturday splurge of top quality after a low quality week of wall to wall action.
Its been a good week for the Don and his clients though as we now have over 50 points of juicy profits on the month and nice to see looking at the all time BetFan service table we are up to third. I want that first place for my service and when I get it I intend to keep it.
But back to the day in hand and after much debate I’m staying at my home track Newmarket today which stages a strong card. Newmarket of course has two racecourses (beat that) and the Rowley mile is the bigger of the two and has the better facilities especially since they built the huge grandstand but I personally prefer the July course which is where we are today.
If you haven’t been then give it a try everything is close together and what ever enclosure you are in you will really feel part of the action.
For this weeks Saturday Special though we venture to Newbury who at 3.50 stage the Wetherby’s Super Sprint for two year olds. This is a great race and unusually the weights allocated to the horses are not based on handicap marks but on the price paid for the horse. This means the cheaper the horse the lower the weight and it offers the little owner (not much money as opposed to being 5 foot 1) the chance to hit the jackpot.
The two Richards Hannon and Fahey have carpet bombed the entries and seem to have half the field and both shrewd teams target these valuable sale races with ruthless efficiency. After saying that though our Saturday Special is trained by a veteran who has had something of a renaissance this year Paul Cole. He runs Meritocracy who is one of the more experienced runners in the field. He won at Chepstow last time and showed blistering speed on similar ground to what he will face here. I have also heard a whisper that his final gallop for this was blistering. Now here’s the good bit Skybet go 22/1 and offer 4 places so get on asap because I think this will be backed.
Goodwood is on the horizon so join me, trust in the Don and let me steer you towards the best value bets every day.
Back next Saturday.
