Well last Saturday was quite exciting wasn’t it as our selection landed one of the gambles of the season with Argent Knight being smashed in to 11/4 from a morning price of 10/1. We had few worries as Paul Hanagan went for home two furlongs out and it was relatively stress free.
We’ve had some fantastic feedback and it’s great to have got so many people on such a monster touch, there really is nothing better in racing than being part of such a biggie. What’s been great to see is so many of you have used the winnings to join the full private service which is just in time for York next week.
I will be heading up from Newmarket next Tuesday and betting live on the knavesmire all week. It’s always a great meeting and I’m confident we have the right info to smash it up. You all saw last Saturday that your best bet is to trust in the Don!
But before that and because I’m very greedy lets have a go at the big race of the day for our Saturday Special. It’s the 3.30 at Ripon the Great St Wilfred over 6 furlongs. This is one of the great sprint handicaps of the year and is hugely competitive but there is one horse I think is massively overpriced. It’s the Kevin Ryan trained Captain Ramius and we can back it at 20/1 with Skybet.
Captain Ramius has won some good races and is high in the handicap because of that however the key thing to remember with this horse is that it runs well below form on very fast ground. Todays race will be on good ground at worst and there is the possibility of further showers. This puts him right in the mix and 20/1 looks huge with 4 places up for grabs. The other news is that the horse is working well and the yard have had winners this week. Ryan really is a master at bringing these sprinters to the boil at just the right time.
So lets get behind the Captain today and remember join the Don at York next week it’s one of my very best tracks.
Back Next Saturday.
