A great weeks racing on a fantastic course finished yesterday with as bad a big raced ride as you will see.
We had had a monster day on Friday with big bets on Sole Power and Pale Mimosa boosting the coffers and making August a good month for us.
I had put my members on Pallasator for the Ebor several weeks ago and when the news broke he had been sold last week we were already safely on at 5/1. At one stage he was as low as 9/4.Obviously we all felt a kick when he was handed the outside berth of 22 of 22 but based on what I had seen on course and what I had been privy to I was still supremely confident.
There is a list of what Morris did wrong but by far the biggest in his series of bad decisions was his lack of any urgency from the start. All week the horses who were positive early were the ones dominating but Pallasator was locked at the back. He could have crept forward but he just sat motionless. I watched the Trainer Sir Mark and he looked like these certainly weren’t his instructions. He then stuck to the inside which is clearly slow ground and used the horses effort up to make all the ground up in one go three furlongs out. Horses have one major burst of speed and it’s best employed at the end not then and even though he plugged on to finish fourth it will go down as a masterclass in what not to do. Sir Mark is not renowned for being the most forgiving and he had planned and plotted this for two years only for his stable jockey to do this. Prescott himself must take some of the blame though I’m sure he made his instructions clear it obviously didn’t register with Mr Morris.
We still made good profits on the week and I believe Newmarket will have another Classic winner on our hands as Postponed looked devastating and Luca will surely aim him at the St Leger now, he mocked his rivals here and is the one to beat at Doncaster.
Today we have some great racing again the BHA should be careful people will start to think they take Sunday racing seriously if they are not careful. The race I like is the 3.05 and the bet is a Win bet on Good Value who is Good Value @ 7/1 with Skybet. David Probert takes the ride and he rides Goodwood well so we are ok there. Good Value is well bred and after a slow start to his career is starting to make up into a useful performer. I was very impressed with his work on the heath last week and I know team Stoute were. I think he has slipped under the radar here and is worth a small Win bet.
Despite Pallasator the Don is giving his members a good winning month and there is plenty of good bets to come this week and beyond. As always with your choice of betting advisor you really should Trust in the Don.
Back next Sunday.
