That’s the end of another turf season, some great performances; we landed a good few big price sprint race winners and had fun filled days out; especially being in the winner enclosure at Glorious Goodwood. My biggest gripe and I don’t want to bore you, but it was the needless overwatering of racecourses, lost count of how many times the going was altered after the first race, too late if your bets are on and if for owners and trainers who spent a lot of time and money taking horses to the races only to arrive and find your horse has no chance. Long term it’s also harming the topography of the courses, some can be no longer described as flat as they have become so undulating.
The next few months I’ll be specialising on the All-Weather, the quality has really improved; the Breeders Cup runner-up broke his maiden at Wolverhampton! The new tapeta track has now bedded in and the kickback not as bad, low stalls are starting to win and a wide draw is not favourable.
This weeks new entries to the hotlist:
03/11/2014 Wolverhampton: ZAC BROWN only his second try at 6 furlongs & bolted up, must go close next time & will progress beyond.
06/11/2014 Wolverhampton: MEMORIAL DAY excellent debut and will improve for step up in trip to a mile plus.
07/11/2014 Wolverhampton: LITTLE ELI badly drawn wide so went too fast early to get a position will be suited by return to 5f.
08/11/2014 Doncaster: LANCELOT DU LAC promising run and relatively lightly raced this year so could be seen out plenty of times on the polytrack this winter.
