My week started at Hamilton Park on Tuesday, my only bet on the card was Saltarello in the first race, it never ceases to amaze me how jockey’s act like sheep, they all came down the middle, when the stands side rail has been quickest all season, unbelievable one horse stayed up the golden highway the 33/1 rag & guest what, he pipped our’s in a photo! A bad start & didn’t fancy anything else on a typically low grade card for this course but had to stay as I had a runner later but as always here the ground is softer than stated & he couldn’t quicken out the swamp.
Move onto Musselburgh’s twilight meeting on Friday evening and what a contrast to Hamilton, the place is buzzing, good prize money & big crowds, definitely at track on the up. It’s been a really profitable year for me here as prominent racers have a big advantage especially over 7f & 1m, and we had G Lee, who knows the course so well on-board our two beats, confidence was high. Green Howard travelled well just in behind and won easily, next race was almost a re-run as Meeting Waters won cosily, no need to give back our winning so headed in early to Edinburgh. The place has become disgusting, we were quietly sitting reviewing the racing & watching the tennis when not one but two hen parties came in, don’t think they were impressed with my patter when I asked if they had a bet on the tennis they promptly left!
I was really excited by Saturday’s racing as the horse to follow I gave in the recent BetFan TV interview Battersea was running in the big handicap at Ascot with our man G Lee on board, the only negative was the wide draw almost impossible to overcome there in such a big field on the round course so reluctantly decided to bet each way. There was never a moment’s doubt as he destroyed the field at a generous SP of 8/1, don’t oppose this horse in any company.
Andy Bell’s Saturday column is always entertaining but a bit cruel to call my ‘hotlist’ of horses to follow ‘hot whores’, well from the few I add each week here, it’s not been a bad few weeks for winners, listed below are their SP’s but were available at much bigger early prices, betting the list blindly would show a massive profit:
BATTERSEA 8/1, BUCKSTAY 6/1, LORD BEN STACK 6/1, TOKEN OF LOVE 9/2, FOREVER NOW 4/1, JAKEY 3/1, CAPTAIN MORLEY 11/4, POSTPONED 5/2 & 5/6, PENHILL 9/4 & 5/4, CANNOCK CHASE 7/4, FIRST FLIGHT 7/4, SI SENOR 7/4, WINTER QUEEN 15/8, ASYAD 4/5, SPEED HAWK 8/11 etc.
I will take great pleasure kicking that old rockers butt in this week St Leger tipping challenge!
Also got some hurtful remarks from Simon ‘The Pink Panther’ Holden calling me a ‘tightwad’, well when I win this week’s contest I promise next time I’m in York to buy him a new designer shirt and it won’t be pink!
This week’s new additions to the hotlist:
FREDERIC, TIMBA, TENDU, ROCKY RIDER, THE FAIRY, FIFTYSHADESFREED & DEVILMENT.
Tuesday Free Tip: 3:50 Leicester – HIGH CHURCH – Win Bet 6/4 (corals)
