Friday saw a very early start tips & newsletter to punt out before I set off to meet Carpo on the M1 to go to Monmore. Those tasks were completed and the money down – I joined Carpo for our road trip. As we arrived at the stadium my phone went off and Matthew one of my religious followers of my Facebook GMT site and free tips – said where was my newsletter.
Further enquiries showed I hadn’t sent it in my haste to leave. I quickly got my iPad out and sent my newsletter email to Betfan Towers. Things didn’t pan out at Monmore with Marco – he broke slowly and was involved in crowding at the first bend but ran on very strongly to claim third and my ante post 20/1 or so I thought! He was beaten a short head into fourth apparently. All was not lost as I did have, thanks to Marcos other co-owner Nick, an ante post each way saver on the winner Evanta Evita. I must commend the hospitality at Monmore who laid on a fantastic buffet for connections of all the finalists. Checked into our hotel and then went to the excellent Penn Tandoori for a consolation supper, got back to my room to watch my free tip Isheforreal land a four timer for trainer David Pruhs and keep the subscribers & newsletter readers happy.
Saturday up for an early morning swim then a bit of breakfast before setting off back down the M1. Our journey home was blighted by an accident near Toddington services making us go agricultural all over Bedfordshire. Back in time to read the Racing Post to sort out Royal Ascot selections along with one runner I fancied at Crayford. Had a great afternoon watching Ascot in between our family BBQ I ended the afternoon with 5/6 winners. An excellent Saturday was rounded off by watching Richard Clarke’s Ballymac Luke hosing up at Crayford on RPGTV he was advised at 7/2 and returned the 2/1f.
Sunday early morning phone call from Angus the dog before I went to the kennels. He fancied a few tonight but one in particular strong. I disagreed and made my own mind up regarding the best bet. I punted it and sent out the advice to subscribers. Had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Waterside Restaurant in Hertford (highly recommended) – home to watch Henlow on RPGTV and saved the best to last with Conall advised at 5/2 winning as I thought he would – out and not for catching over the six bend trip.
Mondays are normally my catch up video day but my cleaner is on holiday this week so I set about giving my house a clean. Worked up a sweat I can tell you. Later that afternoon I took a look at the Nottingham card and thought I had found a solid bet in the Puppy Oaks Final. Punted & sent out – went down to my local turf accountants to watch the race. Harry Crappers bitch Catrigg Croft 9/2 bulleted out and beat my selection Elwick Glory fair & square. No complaints. Early pace wins the race!
Tuesday Sky are at Sheffield where the feature race is the Three Steps to Victory which seems at the mercy of Ballymac Eske. Barrie Draper’s dog has come back brilliantly after a long injury lay off. I sent out my advice to subscribers. Just one bet tonight. I find Sheffield not the easiest track to get right on the tipping front. Too much trouble in the races – like most tracks though you lead you win. I watched the heats of the Maiden Comp closely as I had a dog in it and I think Elaine Parker’s Big Thrill can utilise his trap 1 draw to full effect. The 6/4 early was fair and was advised to subscribers. The dog did exactly as I thought and landed us another winner returned 8/11f. Eske breaks TR in a sublime trap to line performance.
Wednesday you all know is normally powder dry day as it’s graded fare from Romford & Peterborough, though sometimes you have a open class performer turning up in a graded contest. Step forward Cavan Dancer in Romford’s lucky last. The 4/1 on offer was too big IMO – small win bet placed as she’s not in the best of form lately and advised to subscribers. Cavan Dancer could only trap third and could never get competitive. My Wednesday evening however was marred by the news of one of my best friends collapsing and dying suddenly.
Thursday still coming to terms with the last nights sad news. Life is too short!
There was a good all open race card at Hove and two opens of interest at Monmore. I went to Monmore for my selection. Richard Devinish Henlow track record holder Mays King was running a fine race behind Ballygibbon King until he was trod on by Sidaz Pedro, he was a strong selection to subscribers to make amends tonight. He banged out of the traps and defeat was never a question, winning by six lengths advised at 3/1 and returned at 7/4f.
That made it five winners from seven selections this week and were 35 points to the good now for June. Why not join me and let me win you some cash?
Free tip Friday soon comes round – I’m not overly keen on any of the flying four races I could have easily rowed in with Isheforreal again but it’s hard to win three Fridays in a row at Romford. Now I’m going for a dog who I think is overpriced in the last race Phil Simmonds Pharisee Flyer, there is nothing on the clock between him and the favourite Sidelight whose draw in trap 1 tapers my enthusiasm for her. Flyer missed the break from trap one last week but seems to break very well from the middle boxes and he’s got trap 4 tonight, he’s a sporting bet at the odds!
Romford 10.40pm Trap 4
Win bet @ 5/1 generally
