It’s here at last the players championship at Sawgrass also known as the fifth major. This Pete dye designed stadium course fills the players with terror as water is everywhere no more than on the infamous 17th the island hole.

We have all become experts at this hole over the years playing on the PlayStation or Xbox. The reality that will face the players this week if the wind gets up is horrific as there are 4000 people almost sucking the ball into the water. Someone will have a seven or an eight here and completely play themselves out of the tournament and have to put on a brave face as many people find it absolutely hilarious just a few feet away.

Garcia blew the tournament here but going in the water and many a great player has met a watery grave. Let’s be honest it is one of the most fun holes to watch of the year and how though find sawgrass gimmicky including the great tiger I feel it is one of the ultimate tests of players all round game.

We need players who can grind out four good solid rounds as no one goes very low round here very often have trouble lurks with the rough, difficult greens and liquid everywhere.
Straight driving is a must here as you do not want to hit your second shots from the rough where the ball simply will not hold on the slippery greens. Know one will hit every green here so we’re looking for players with excellent scrambling skills and short games.

If the truth is told many of the top players in the world do not like this week because they don’t do very well here. I fear young Rory would rather not be here but he got stick for not turning up one year so has made the trek but I suspect with little enthusiasm. It certainly does not suit his game so he makes a weak fave.

This is wide open and the betting supports that theory with many, many players holding strong claims. At golf bet profits we have four major bets this week and aim to land a big pot. All the players will have bad spells and bad holes and the lead will change hands many times that is just the kind of tournament this is.

Let’s hope our players can stay dry and stay focused in what is sure to be a fascinating week. I look forward to seeing you on the fairways.

Huge congratulations to Bubba Watson the man with the pink driver who quite simply took Augusta apart with his driving and iron play.

He will never be the Worlds greatest putter but he gave himself so many chances with outrageously long and straight driving over four days. it turned into a race off with young wonder boy Jordan Speith who will win many Majors but there was to be no denying Watson, in the end it was elementary.

The European challenge well where do we start firstly by mentioning Luke Donald who last Winter sacked his coach the one who had helped him be number one in the World! I’m not sure who he replaced him with, on this weeks showing it could well be the Chuckle Brothers.

Lee Westwood flattered to deceive yet again and rolled out the same old excuses as did Poulter. It was quite embarrassing to view and when asked on Sky whether he thought Westwood could win Jack Nicklaus quickly changed the subject to Justin Rose, nuff said.

Bernard Langer and the great Freddie Couples showed it’s not impossible to play well round here despite what Rory and the rest of our boys kept hinting in interviews all week. As for Garcia. Well maybe he should book his holidays for this week next year. He could see if the Tigers free they could go on a cruise.

This week we have one of the great weeks in its own right. The Heritage at Hilton Head. A links style course with tricky small greens it’s a world away from Augusta. If the wind gets up it’s mega tricky and length off the tee counts for nothing which is why Bubba doesn’t bother with this one.

We are playing two max bets in this and one is 150/1 so jump on board if last week showed you this is the most exciting sport of them all.

It’s here at last Masters week and the great news is there’s still time to get involved.

Last year Golf Bet Profits came so near to giving the Bookmakers a dreadful beating as Angel Cabrera lost in a play off to Adam Scott after we had put him up at a huge price pre Tournament. It’s not lost on myself or my members that since then Adam Scott has thrown huge leads away and blown Tournaments from 6 shots in front, thanks mate where were you when we needed you!

This year we aim to go one better and we have four selections in the outright market today followed by two 72 hole matchbets tomorrow. Throughout the first three days we will be having individual round bets then on Sunday it’s a full last round preview with further selections should they be needed. When we say it’s the most comprehensive golf betting service on the market, WE MEAN IT.

So what makes this Tournament the very best there is well it’s the venue Augusta. This is the only Major played at the same venue each year and more than any player the course is the star attraction. It’s stunningly beautiful but devilishly difficult. Many of the BetFan team struggle to get round under 90 and that’s on the Xbox. The Lord himself knows what they would be like if they actually got there for real. I personally think I could break 80 but I ought to point out for religious reasons I never play the par 4s.

Many players say the nerves at Augusta are different to any other week because you know one big mistake here and it’s lights out! We are in for a great week of golf and golf betting so let me ask you, does it get any better?

This week sees one of the great Invitational’s as the Florida Swing stops off at one of the most iconic venues in World Golf which is the home of one of its most iconic players, it’s Bay Hill for the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

A smaller field than usual of just 120 players tee it up at this amazing venue and for once we can forgive the American coverage for being in full on grovel mode for the full 4 days as this venue and the old boy himself deserve it.

No one except Seve and in the modern era Phil Mickelson have ever excited crowds with such swashbuckling play as Palmer has. And in contrast to some of the top players today he always respected the game and what his role in it was. Never seen spitting all over the place, cursing in front of youngsters or not bothering to turn up if he didn’t think he would win he shines like a beacon for all that’s good in the game.

The fact he is attached to such a fantastic venue is only fitting because this place is synonymous with exciting golf and risk reward holes. Being in Florida there is more water than you will see in your average Ocean and great wildlife, Gators, Turtles and of course a Tiger!

A very grumpy Tiger and they’re the ones who you want to avoid. He simply cannot string four rounds together and he keeps claiming he has back problems on Sunday’s so he is an uneasy fave at 8/1 this week to clock another win in this. Phil and Rory are busy so Scotty is next and he will relish this place. In form Zach Johnson and Fedex Cup winner Henrik Stenson are others making bullish noises about winning this week.

For me the course is the star and though from emails I get that many of you see these Florida courses as novelty target golf for me they make for the most exciting viewing and fluctuating leaderboards. This place finishes with the devilishly difficult 18th which has ruined many a scorecard.

Sky will cover all four days extensively so if you can stomach host Jim Nance laughing hysterically when Arnold Palmer makes any comment at all during his stints in the commentary box then it’s essential viewing.

All in all it should be quite a week and at Golf Bet Profits we are playing four players against the field.

I look forward to seeing you on the fairways and not in the water.

Patrick Reed came of age on Sunday night when he held on to win the Cadillac WGC at Doral. The Blue Monster turned into a complete monster and a record was set for a PGA event for the most balls going in the water.

Tiger Woods developed a bad back again on Sunday afternoon and though we got place money Dustin Johnson proved yet again that along with massive talent he has a huge space between his ears as he played some suicidally stupid golf.

Hats off to Donald Trump and the design team who have turned the Blue Monster into a scary test of the game we all love. I’ve been lucky enough to play many of Floridas best courses but I think I may well give this one a miss unless I just turn up and jump in the lake, cutting out the middle man as it were.

Thoughts have to turn towards the Masters now and if Patrick Reed hits his irons like he did last week he would have a chance. People say Augusta is about the man who putts best, it isn’t it’s about the man who can put his ball in the right parts of the greens the most and this guy hit irons in like arrows.

The PGA tour has the Valspar Challenge this week while on the European Tour it’s the Trophee Hassan. Both are good courses with strong fields and providing the caddies on the European Tour can keep their minds off what they’ve backed at Cheltenham then we should be in for a good week.

Remember it’s the quiet golf weeks when we can sneak in and land the big pot from right under the Bookmakers noses and we have some big priced selections this week .

I look forward to seeing you on the fairways.

There are only four World Golf Championship Events in the whole year and the powers that be have decided to play two of them in three weeks! And you thought the people who run horse racing were crazy! and you’re right of course.

So just a fortnight since the World Matchplay we pitch up at one of the most famous of all the courses in the USA, The Blue Monster at Doral. But there is one Major problem for us because it’s not the same Blue monster at Doral that we know and love! The owner Donald Trump he of the hairstyle that would make Elton John snigger, has after last years Tournament gutted the place and had it redesigned.

The old place he claimed had seen better days and he wanted to turn it into a resort course. That of course means he wanted to make it easier so more tourists would come and play! The word is that the fairways have been widened and the greens made bigger, essentially this is a new golf course. It is however still a Florida, water everywhere, open to the wind course and will suit the players that do well on these tracks.

The man who was known as the king of the Blue monster our old friend Tiger Woods was at his petulant best last Sunday night when after a disastrous display in the last round when after 12 holes he decided to have an early bath and walk off citing a back spasm. Remember this does slightly affect his playing partner and was feeble in the extreme. His chief crawler Sky Sports Mark Roe for whom the Tiger is God assured us that his hero wouldn’t do this lightly but it was more dreadful PR for the tarnished brand that is Woods. I’m sure the sponsors were impressed and of course the people who had paid to go and see him and this two weeks after the World matchplay where he couldn’t even be bothered to turn up!

Tiger is the reigning Champion here but in this weeks betting he is drifting further than the Kon Tiki! and should he play it’s hard to see him winning. Young Rory blew the Honda Classic last week ending up in a play off when he had it won earlier in the last round. That will have seriously annoyed him however he did drive the ball as well as anyone has all season and when he drives it so long and so straight you cannot leave him out of calculations. He says he loves Florida golf and it’s his home now so must feel comfortable and relaxed!

Big hitting Dustin Johnson and Adam Scott will be on most peoples short list for what promises to be an intriguing week and lets remember like all Florida courses if the wind gets up in the afternoons they can play about five shots harder and one hole that has been left alone by Trump and his cronies is the terrifying 18th!

We are playing four against the field this week at Golf Bet Profits so join us there’s no need to be afraid of this monster!

After last weeks unpredictable matchplay event the PGA Tour returns to some kind of normality with the start of the Florida Swing. I’m not going to hold a competition as to why it’s called the Florida Swing section of the Tour suffice to say if you cannot work it out then I fear life is set to be a struggle for you.

It’s the Honda Classic played on one of the most difficult courses on Tour the Championship course at PGA National. It contains the notorious Beartrap 15 to 17, 2 par 3s and a hellish par 4 so called as the designer Jack Nicklaus must have been in his meanest mood ever when he designed these three pieces of golfing pure evil.

Bad news for the players as the wind is due to be quite lively so the Beartrap with water surrounding all three holes will ensure the scoreboard will be changing very quickly. This is the sort of Tournament where you watch smugly as your player leads then pop to the fridge to lessen by one its stocks of Mcewans Export only to return to find him missing from the first three pages of the leaderboard having got wet three times.

If Maximus had been a golfer then Oliver Reeds advice would have been “Win the Bear Trap and you will win your freedom.”

It’s not the whole Tournament but it is pivotal.

The Tiger is on the prowl but such was the horror of his last performance with wild swings and constant cursing that it’s a brave man that bets him this week. Rory leads a strong and powerful European Challenge who have done well at this Tournament. With so many of them living in Florida this is more of a home event than one at Wentworth. I expect a strong challenge from our boys this week as they are precision iron players which this place needs. If he drives well Rory will contend but his price is on the skinny side and there is value elsewhere.

We love the Florida Swing at Golf Bet Profits, the season is moving into top gear and the form lines are there if you know where to look. Join us it should be quite a week, just don’t leave the room when our players are on the Bear Trap holes, send others they will understand!

Have a great Golf Betting week.

On Fridays I will be presenting BetFan.com/tv look out for the occasional nugget from the fairways.

So near again as Dustin Johnson lost by one on Sunday night to a resurgent Bubba Watson at the Northern Trust Open.

Two majorly annoying things the first being a chip in from a bunker which is a bit flukey and made a difference and the second being since winning the Masters Bubba has blown every lead he has had and looked a real bottler!! Such is sport.

The ratings are really put to use this week as we have the first World Golf Championship Event, The Accenture Matchplay at the amazing Dove Mountain. We have a system we use to play this event which is ingenious if I don’t say so myself and has proved very successful in the past four years.

Disgracefully Woods and Mickelson can’t be bothered to turn up and there’s nothing the authorities can do about it. There are only four WGC events so I’m sure it’s possible to support them. The problem is it’s matchplay and these two have often lost in the early rounds so they have decided not to bother. What a great example to children from the Worlds top two golfers, usually I admire Phil tremendously but not in this. These events develop the game around the World, a game which has made these two mega wealthy.

Anyway lets talk about the players who have turned up we have Poulter the matchplay maestro who looked horribly out of form last week BUT as we know say matchplay to this guy and suddenly a new man emerges. It’s Ryder Cup year Poults will want to make a statement this week.

This is a big wide open course with huge undulating greens that is perfect for matchplay so expect thrills and spills and big winning margins. There will be some big priced players in contention I’m convinced so get with Golf Bet Profits this week then sit back and watch it on TV… like Tiger and Phil are!

Golf Bet Profits landed the winner at Pebble Beach but not till after we had been taken on an emotional rollercoaster for 5 hours on Sunday night.

Jimmy Walker was our number 1 selection at 28/1. Not only has he recorded two recent wins but the unique Golf Bet Profit ratings system identified him as a 14/1 shot for the Tournament so at 28/1 we had to be involved. For three days Walker confirmed our thinking surging into an incredible six shot lead, this is in a field including the likes of Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson no less.

We entered Sunday’s final round at 1/5 in the betting and standing on the 10th tee we were 1/25 with Walker coasting round still leading by 5. He then went into meltdown mode which he later claimed was due to the size of the lead. Shots were frittered away from the middle of the fairway. Putts were missed from 5 feet and so it went on as we started to get that sinking feeling.

The upshot was on the 18th tee our boy needed a par to avoid a playoff, a par on a hole with the sea on one side and out of bounds on the other. To say he fell over the line would be an understatement as a five foot putt wiped its feet on the way in but a wins a win and when we all looked at our Bookmaker accounts in the morning there was loads of money there!

Walker will learn from this and could still challenge for the Majors but it will leave its mark for a while and judging by the emails I received a few people felt that he could have made it easier by playing his normal game instead of playing the leaderboard. Fair point but thankfully for us it all turned out fine and dandy.

This week we stay in California for the Northern Trust Open at Riviera, one of the great courses in the World. Short in length but incredibly tricky this is a week for the strategists and we have four strong selections.

We could be in for another big Sunday night. Nothing beats the drama and excitement of a big golf night when we have one running for us at a big price. Get involved!

Have a great punting week.

Well after 17 holes on Sunday night we were leading with graham Delaet our 40/1 shot but Kevin Stadler ripped it away from us on the final two holes with some great golf under tremendous pressure. This was all the more impressive because at the start of the day Stadler was throwing away shots like confetti but the American brought it home and will now see his bank balance swell as quickly as his waistline has.

Stadler clearly doesn’t join Tiger, Rory and the guys in the gym too often unless he uses it as a shortcut to Dunkin Donuts but good for him he drives it very straight and has an iron game to die for so the unlikely athlete deserves all the credit even if it did stop us from a big payout.

This week the American Tour moves on to Pebble beach for the AT@T Pro am which is actually played over three courses then everyone plays Pebble beach on the Sunday. Pebble Beach the most beautiful golf Course on the planet which is set to be easier this week so the Amateur/celebrities don’t need counselling will look as stunning as ever in the California Winter sunshine. We also get the chance to watch a host of B list American celebrities that we have never heard of play rubbish golf whilst the American commentary team howl with laughter and tell us what huge fans they are listing shows they are in that you will have never heard of and will want to avoid. There will also be retired American Football (thats exciting isn’t it) and Baseball stars and of course the star attraction Ghostbuster Bill Murray. After four days of his wisecracks when you are asked Who you gonna call? It won’t be him.

Away from this though it is a fabulous Tournament and on Sunday at least the Golf will be concentrated on!

On our Tour we are back to South Africa for the Joburg Open where that man Schwartzel is looking to extend his incredible run on home turf. Charl must love home comfort because he is twice the player when teeing it up at home. You will not beat 4/1 for him to win but it is a brave man who will bet against him.

Join us, forget the celebs we have some cracking bets, we have hit a few crossbars lately, be with us for the one that goes in!
