Normal Friday – newsletter and accompanying free tip – though the free tip proved difficult as the flying four priced up races were not inspiring. Though later looking at entire card it wasn’t one for punting heavily. Spent the afternoon looking at the Sunderland Festival card while waiting for the enemy to price up the whole Romford card. Second selection sent out to subscribers but stakes on both selections were reduced. Set off for Romford with Andy D hoping to watch Tommy record his 25th win from his 99th race. Tommy will be retired after his 100th race next Friday. He fully deserves his retirement and he will be irreplaceable.
I think a late service may be something that I would look into as I got two pieces of info upon arrival at the Essex track both were well backed and duly won.
My two selections both failed to hit the target, both fell out and at Romford that’s game over!
Tommy didn’t win either but I came home armed with red hot info on a sure fire winner at Sunderland.
Saturday I was keen to check out the best prices in the village for the Sunderland festival heats tonight. I had already sent out my ante post selections yesterday to my subscribers.
I set about backing the ‘good thing’ on line and in a few betting shops trying to keep it under the radar before sending it out to subscribers but also adding it to our ante post lists.
Had a dabble on the horses to kill sometime in the afternoon while waiting for the real action to start. I see Andy Bell is his column has elicited that I now have competition on the greyhound tipping front with Emma James who has done well with her Revolution Betting horse racing service, now branching out into my domain on the Bet Kudos platform. I relish any competition and whilst the rivalry hasn’t reached Belly/Don proportions I’m ready for any forthcoming challenge.
Show time was the 9.15 Sunderland where we were taking on the 4/6f and Grand Prix ante post favourite Lagganmore Milan with Reel Trickyone advised to all my clients as a strong bet at 11/2. ‘Butch’ as he’s known in the kennels bolted out and there was never ever a moments doubt we were all collecting. Sunday saw me in no rush to get to the kennels decided I deserved a lie in. Dogs were eventually walked and on my return home I collected my cash winnings from several betting shops. Nice cooked breakfast followed by my usual call from Angus the dog about the Henlow card tonight. There was no stand out bet from him, in fact he said it was a poor punting card. I set about looking at it closer, watched some videos and was interested in a 550 maiden race – thought it was between last weeks GMT selection Can’t wait Ciara and Nick Savva’s Westmead Ellie. I decided Ellie had the more scope and sent her out as a late selection to subscribers. I chose the wrong bitch when Ciara picked up Ellie off the last bend. Annoyed but were still in good shape this month.
Monday is catch up day and also it’s the end of the month. I often talk about my more heralded dogs I own on here, Head iton Tom and Blackstone Marco, but one I haven’t mentioned is Goes Hot aka Patch who was bought to be open class after very fast runs round Lifford and Derry. He might not have been suited by Romford nor Peterborough, along with being an over excitable type who could have lost his race before he had ran it. It would have been easy to give up on him. We stuck with him gave him to David Pruhs to do some work with him, then to Heather Dimmock where the penny has dropped culminating in a very fast win at Sittingbourne last night. Miracles do happen! Nottingham open race card is not a favourite of mine but I thought Catrigg Croft advised at 7/4 who defeated our last weeks Nottingham selection Elwick Glory in the Puppy Oaks could follow up this week.
Unfortunately no was the answer when she was knocked over at the first bend just failing to clear the dog inside her. Thankfully she was fine and made made her way to the pick up some way behind the other runners. Another nice profitable month over 40 points – looking to continue in July in the same form.
Tuesday had planned to go to watch Romford trials but Mrs D had other ideas, chores to be completed. Had a good look at Sheffield open race card, nothing stood out and b365 didn’t look like pricing up the card. So as there is plenty action upcoming this week I decided to send out a no bet email.
Wednesday saw more of the same as I didn’t fancy anything strongly at Romford or Peterborough graded card so an early no bets email was sent out. I went to meet Dave Clark of the Racing Post at Ernie Gaskin’s kennels as he was doing a piece on my dog Head iton Tom’s retirement for Sundays paper. I’m looking forward to reading the article. I’m also appearing on RPGTV on Sunday evening to pay tribute to Tommy and hopefully tip a few winners from Henlow. Tune in on Sky channel 212 or Freesat 401 from 6.15 to get all my Sunday tips for free.
Thursday morning saw me wake up to me being a year older but hopefully wiser as well. I was looking forward to going to Hove later in the day to watch Marco with Carpo. First I had to open my presents and then set about finding a winner for subscribers from the Hove card.
I decided I wanted to take on the favourites which in hindsight was a bad move as all three I personally took on won. I sent out an advice about backing two dogs at big prices in split stakes to take on favourite Sidaz Pedro – Pedro won – both my selections in the race disappointed. However I had a great birthday with good company on a lovely day at the seaside. Marco ran very well behind the favourite Underground Paul in a fast time. So all in all it was still a good day.
Newsletter and free tip Friday again – we’re going to row in with Jim Reynolds who has his kennel in fine form – none better than Flawless Floyd who has relished the step up to 750 metre trip. Trap six suits and he can do it both ways off the front and from behind.
Tonight sees the end of my love affair with my dog Head iton Tom who has his 100th and final race. A comfy sofa hopefully awaits for Tommy he deserves a good retirement and a happy home. Can he win his last ever race? – I really hope so it would be the ending he so richly deserves!
