Back to my normal diary this week. Friday saw the usual routine of newsletter & free tip sent out out early and then a further selection sent out in the late afternoon. Both landed which made a nice change of fortune at my home track as winners have been hard to come by on the open race Friday nights. Both Hometown Day and Star One Day banged out and led their respective fields a merry dance! The bookies were none to pleased however when Carpo & I collected our bangers and mash! We topped up on track after receiving very encouraging words about both selections when arriving trackside.
Saturday evening saw the start of the category 1 Ladbrokes Golden Jacket at Crayford I was unable to attend as I had a family party to go to. I sent out three ante post selections and all three safely made this Saturday’s semi finals covered live in your betting shops on the bags service. Unusually I did send out three selections on the night in the heats that I thought were value. None of them won but one of them looked all over the winner until the lack of race fitness told when getting nailed on the line! I watched the replays when I got home in the early hours and have come to the conclusion we have the winner of the competition in our ante post list barring accidents!
Sunday up and off to the kennels to walk my dogs and reward them with some sausages.
Had to run my relatives to the airport then shoot off to Henlow to meet Angus the dog and Carpo for a spot of Sunday roast before watching Marco spin round in a trial. The roast was top class as was Marco’s trial he glided round the Bedfordshire track. However it was all downhill from there as my selection Mays Teejay for subscribers was knocked over at the 1st bend and Angus the dog had his worst night punting at Henlow in a long time! Still the banter was priceless and we will be back for more this coming Sunday.
Monday as you all know is catch up day, didn’t fancy anything at Nottingham so no bets advised. Instead I was busy looking ahead to the Sky meeting at Newcastle.
Sky nights always start early – I already had my selections in mind but was up at the crack of dawn to get my copy of the ‘bible’ Racing Post. You have to post your selections by 10am on Sky nights or the prices disappear faster than Usain Bolt! Akerview Gem and Hather George were the confident selections sent out but within 30 minutes news of two non runners in each of there races was announced. This is my worst nightmare – some firms let you void the bet after they have reformed a market and you can then get your bet on at the reformed market odds which is always better than SP. However the big firms like Hills & Ladbrokes both refer to SP – I reckon it’s a ploy to save them money! The traders have ample time to make up a new market so why don’t they! Gem hosed up but George wasn’t sure to challenge inside or outside, which cost him as he was beaten a neck and he was in front just after the line! Still a profitable night but Gem was advised at 7/2 but we were returned 2/1 SP for Betfan purposes! Hate non runners!!
Wednesday is always an all graded cards on RPGTV at Romford & Peterborough, which we swerve! Don’t trust the graders at all. No bets advised. Instead my day was brightened up with the visit of my grand-daughter Poppy. She is the apple of my eye!
Normally Hove put on a decent open race card for a Thursday but it’s been noticeably poor the last few weeks. I thought long and hard about my selection Lady Diamond as I was going against the masses. I believed I was right to stick to my principals. But Jazz Tilly who had not clocked under 30.00 did a calculated 29.61 beating my selection by over four lengths and I was forced to eat my words.
Free tip Friday has arrived and Bubbly Rocket should strip a lot fitter from last weeks comeback run after injury. He has a nice draw on the fence if he comes away in a good fashion from the red jacket. Last weeks winner Invicta Sable is the danger as the likely leader. But class should prevail.
Romford 10.11 Trap 1 – Bubbly Rocket – Win Bet @ 7/4 (Bet365)
